1.   REPORT ON TRANSNATIONAL MEDIA CONCENTRATIONS IN EUROPE

A report on Transnational Media Concentrations in Europe has been prepared by the Advisory Panel on Media Diversity (AP-MD) and approved by the Council of Europe Steering Committee on the Mass Media (CDMM). >>>

2.   CAURI PROJECT

A.M.I, the National Centre for the Development of Popular Music, is conducting a four-year cooperation programme for the creation of a fair music economy (2004–2005–2006–2007). The CAURI project encompasses several long-term training programmes for decentralised regional cooperation between Europe and Central Africa in the fields of popular music, electronic arts and innovative urban arts. >>>

3.   11th ARTISTS RESIDENCIES AND FILM FESTIVAL

The Hungarian Multicultural Centre (HMC) invites visual artists and writers to participate in an international residency programme and film festival in Balatonfured, Hungary, between June and August 2005. Application deadline is 15 January 2005. >>>

4.   VIII CONFERENCE EUROPEAN CULTURE

Should you wish to sponsor the conference, join the organizing committee or present a paper, please contact the Centre for European Studies of the University of Navarra, which organizes the VIII Conference European Culture under the title of Europe: Encounters and Frontiers, to be held in Pamplona, Spain, on 26-29 October 2005. >>>

5.   SECOND EUROPEAN URBAN THEATRE FESTIVAL

The festival, to be held in Manchaster, England, on 1-5 November 2005, will feature speakers to represent a range of perspectives at a major conference and performances from artists from across Europe. Artists, policy makers and producers are invited to participate as performers, speakers or delegates. Proposals for involvement deadline: 31 December 2004. >>>

6.   GOVERNANCE OF INTERNATIONAL MIGRATORY FLOWS AND INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION

The Swiss Foundation Population, Migration and Environment (PME) and the International Metropolis Project announce a call for proposals for a pre-study of the Governance of International Migratory Flows and International Migration, with a focus on supra-national governance and the possibilities it affords for managing migratory flows. Research outlines should be submitted no later than 1 January 2005. >>>

7.   V HELSINKI INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION

Young talented dancers are invited to participate at the V Helsinki International Ballet Competition to be held on 25 May – 3 June 2005. Application deadline is 31 December 2004 for Finnish competitors and 1 February 2005 for international participants. >>>

8.   GULLIVER'S CONNECT PROGRAMME 2005

The aims of this mobility and arts work placement programme organized by the Felix Meritis Foundation, NCDO and KulturKontakt are to facilitate collaborative partnerships between arts practitioners from neighbouring countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union as well as to encourage the process of learning from practice. Application deadline is 15 December 2004. >>>

9.   2005 SKOWHEGAN SUMMER RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture is an intensive nine-week summer residency programme for emerging visual artists, seeking to provide a stimulating and rigorous environment for artistic creation and interaction by offering a concentrated period of work, created with the help of a distinguished faculty of resident and visiting artists. The 2005 session runs from 11 June to 13 August 2005. Application deadline is 1 February 2005. >>>

10.   MASTER PROGRAM IN CERAMIC DESIGN

A master programme in ceramic design will take place from March to July 2004, targeting 15 unemployed university postgraduates with degrees in architecture or industrial design, or from the academy of fine arts or institutes of higher education in the arts sector. Student participation is free. Application deadline is 11 February 2005. >>>

11.   VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO

For a Beginning Associate Professor position, tenured, beginning 1 July 2005, the UCSD Visual Arts Department is seeking an artist who comes from a visual art, architectural or urban studies background, and preferably works across these disciplines as both a practitioner and a theorist. Application deadline is 10 January 2005. >>>

12.   SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago seeks full-time, tenure-track colleagues with a commitment to excellence in teaching and innovative work or research in their fields of African studies, art history, arts administration, design history, product and fashion design.
