1. SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE SECOND WORLD CULTURELINK CONFERENCE The Culturelink Network has finalized the full preliminary programme of its Second World Culturelink Conference entitled Dynamics of Communication: New Ways and New Actors, to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 9-12 June 2005. Gathering in four working sessions 22 key speakers and 31 speakers from 28 countries world-wide, including some of the most renowned professionals in the field, the conference is organised with the aim to examine new ways, new instruments and new actors in cultural communications, focusing on aspects of international mobility, primarily based on networking and information exchange. >>> |

2. ICA - LONDON CONSORTIUM STUDENTSHIP The London Consortium and the Institute of Contemporary Art invite applications for a PhD Studentship with the aim to pursue research into the history of the ICA.. Application deadline is 31 May 2005. >>> 3. FELLOW PARTICIPATION IN ARTIST-IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM The International Research Center for the Arts (IRCA) calls for ambitious fellows to deploy new creations of the 21st century. Artists are called to participate in the program period September 2005 – August 2006 as fellows in the IRCA artist-in-residence program held at the Kyoto University of Art and Design, Japan. Application deadline is 1 June 2005. >>> 4. LAW AND ECONOMICS OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Aiming to stimulate discussion between international scholars, this Workshop to be held in Milan, Italy on 22-23 July 2005 invites submissions on any topic (both theoretical and empirical) that uses law and economics methods to analyse aspects of intellectual property or information technology. Application deadline is 5 June 2005. >>> 5. MA IN EUROCULTURE IS OPEN The Centre for European Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland announces open the selection process for the Master of Arts programme in Euroculture, an interdisciplinary international programme involving ten renowned European universities. Its general aim in the academic year 2005/2006 is to focus on the cultural and social dimensions of modern Europe, and particularly on the functioning of the EU. Closing date for applications is 17 June 2005. >>> 6. SALZBURG CULTURE FORUM 2005 The International Centre for Culture and Management (ICCM) announces this year's Salzburg Culture Forum (SCF) to take place at ICCM's College St. Josef in Salzburg, Austria on 25 July – 27 August 2005. The SCF succeeds the International Salzburg Summer Academy for Arts Management and represents an extension of previous programmes. Application deadline for an active participation in the forum is 30 June 2005. >>> 7. AMSU INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION AND CULTURAL MANAGEMENT COURSES The Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University announces the following 2005 Summer Courses: Development and Management of Autonomous Creative Spaces in Europe, 16-20 August 2005; Innovative Strategies in International Cultural Co-operation, 23-25 August 2005; and International Production Management, 28-31 August 2005. Application deadline is 1 July 2005. >>> 8. M1 SINGAPORE FRINGE FESTIVAL 2006 This annual festival of theatre, performance arts, film, dance, visual arts, mixed media, music and forum created and presented by Singaporean and international artists, will present the best of contemporary, cutting-edge and socially engaged works between 22 February and 5 March 2006 under the title of Art & Healing. 9. 13th ENCATC ANNUAL CONFERENCE The European Network of Institutions and Professionals Involved in Training and Education in the Broad Field of Cultural Management (ENCATC) announces its 13th Annual Conference, to be held in Potsdam, Germany, on 2-5 June 2005 under the title Culture Management and the Question of Values in a Shifting Landscape, aiming to question the existence of common European artistic, economic, and pragmatic criteria and search for the values behind these criteria. >>> 10. CULTURAL PORTALS: NEW CHALLENGES AND GOOD PRACTICES Organized by Culture.ca, Canada’s Cultural Gateway, to take place in Aichi, Japan on 7-8 June 2005, the first Culture.mondo Roundtable will provide a unique opportunity for cultural portal managers, planners and experts from around the world to meet in the stimulating environment of Expo 2005. >>> 11. INTERACTIVE CULTURE COLLOQUIUM: CULTURE AND ONLINE INFORMATION The Interactive Culture Colloquium: Culture and Online Information organized jointly by On The Move (OTM), the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM), Relais Culture Europe and ERBAN will be held in Nantes, France, on 23-24 June 2005, focusing on the encounter between "cultural domain" and "digital culture". Participation in the working groups is limited. >>> 12. TOURISM AND PERFORMANCE: SCRIPTS, STAGES AND STORIES The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change at the Sheffield Hallam University will hold its international research conference entitled Tourism and Performance: Stages and Stories in Sheffield, UK, on 14-18 July 2005. The aim of this conference is to explore the idea of tourists as performers by drawing on the methodological and conceptual knowledge of different disciplinary perspectives. >>> 13. INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON THE SOCIAL SCIENCE - POLICY NEXUS Aiming to bridge the gap between academic social science and policy communities, UNESCO's IFSP will be held in an innovative format in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 5-9 September 2005 and, in parallel, in Montevideo, Uruguay, 6-8 September 2005, focusing on key thematic areas where social science expertise is crucial to effective policy intervention. >>> 14. THE MACBRIDE REPORT – 25 YEARS LATER The European Institute of Communication and Culture (EURICOM) will hold its 2005 Colloquium in Piran, Slovenia, on 15-17 September 2005, devoted to the significance of the 1979 "Many Voices – One World" report of the International Commission for the Study of Communication Problems (also known as the MacBride Report). >>> 15. CREATIVE CLUSTERS 2005 Creative Clusters, the only annual international conference on policy for the creative industries, will be held in Belfast, UK, 24-26 October 2005, featuring speakers and presentations on creative industry development from the UK and around the world, supported by a programme of networking and entertainment events. >>> 16. MANIFESTA 2006 IN NICOSIA The International Foundation Manifesta (IFM) will hold its 6th Manifesta Biennial of Contemporary Art in the autumn of 2006 in Nicosia, Cyprus, chosen for its capacity to guide Manifesta through a two-year period of investigation around the geographical and conceptual frameworks of Europe at large, particularly with regard to its relationships with the Middle East and North Africa. >>> |

17. CREATIVE CITY NETWORK OF CANADA DISCUSSION LIST The Creative City Network of Canada has launched ACAD-L, a discussion list for academics with an interest in local cultural development and creative cities, aiming to improve communications and networking among faculty and students working in these areas, and develop linkages between the academic community and the community of practice. >>> 18. CENTENNIAL COLLEGE LAUNCHES NEW ART AND DESIGN PROGRAMS In September 2005, the Centennial College from Toronto, Canada will launch the Fine Art Studio and the Graphic Media Design programmes at its Centre for Creative Communications. >>> 19. MA IN ARTS MANAGEMENT The Department of Cultural Policy and Management at City University, London is now welcoming applicants to the MA in Arts Management for the next academic year starting in October 2006. >>> 20. MUSA HERITAGE GALLERY ANNIVERSARY In view of its tenth anniversary in December 2006, the Musa Heritage Gallery, a museum on the arts & crafts of Cameroon's Western Grassfields, has launched a global appeal for funds from organisations and people of goodwill to finance general renovation of the museum building, proper shelving and stands for objects, lighting and security installations as well as the acquisition of computers for the documentation of the collection. >>> 21. PUBLICIZE YOUR WORK ON CULTURE AND POLICY Created by the Center for Arts and Culture, a Washington based think tank, the Cultural Commons is a virtual open meeting place seeking to attract new interest and new thinking about arts and cultural issues and provide resources and ideas for further involvement in the cultural policy sector, research, new organizational partnerships or event participation. >>> 22. LA GALA – INTERNATIONAL CULTURE PROJECTS LA GALA - International Culture Projects, an artist agency situated in Cologne, Germany is specialized in creative cultural projects and exchange, concentrating on the production, management and booking of artists from Southern Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. >>> |

23. A SENSE OF BELONGING Creative Exchange has launched a report and DVD entitled A Sense of Belonging, which addresses the role of arts and culture in the integration of refugees and asylum seekers. The report has emerged from a 12-month research project involving 73 projects across the UK. >>> 24. CULTURE: HIDDEN DEVELOPMENT Under the title Culture: Hidden Development, Creative Exchange also launched a new landmark report on culture and international development, funded by the UK's Department for International Development and intended to serve as a practical working guide. >>> |
