E-CULTURE – CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS Culturelink's conference proceedings eCulture: The European Perspective - Cultural Policy, Creative Industries, Information Lag, published earlier this year, have now been made available as a free e-book for viewing and downloading. >>> 2. E-CROATIA – ON THE WAY TO INFORMATION SOCIETY The Culturelink Network's WWW Resource Centre project has been presented as part of the e-Croatia initiative in an exhibition entitled Croatia on the Road to Information Society, taking place at INFO 2005, the 37th International Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media Fair, the leading marketing platform of the growing ICT branch in SE Europe. >>> |

5. 4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CULTURAL POLICY RESEARCH Reminder: The deadline for applications for ICCPR 2006, to be held in Vienna, Austria, on 12-16 July, 2006, is 15 November 2005. The event aims to provide an outlet for interdisciplinary and international exploration of the concepts, functions and impacts of cultural policies. >>> 6. THE NEW FRONTIERS OF EUROPE The Faculty of European Studies announces the first call for papers for a conference entitled The New Frontiers of Europe. International, Inter-ethnic and Inter-confessional Relations. A 100-word abstract should be sent by 1 December 2005. >>> 7. 14TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE ACEI The organisers of the 14th International Conference of the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI) to be held in Vienna, Austria, on 6-9 July 2006, invite the submission of papers on any aspect of cultural economics. Submission deadline for abstracts is 31 January 2006. Graduate students are invited to a Pre-Conference Young Researchers' Workshop in Cultural Economics – application deadline is 15 February 2006. >>> 8. SUBMISSIONS FOR CULTURAL TRENDS Planning to focus on some specific themes over the next 18 months, the journal Cultural Trends invites proposals for papers about assessing the impact of culture on society, people and the future; identifying clear trends in cultural participation, provision and funding; developing critical approaches to the collection, analysis and use of statistics and other data within the cultural sector; exploring new and different approaches to understanding, formulating and valuating the operations of the cultural sector and the public policy that effects it. >>> |

9. INSTITUTE FOR HUMAN SCIENCES FELLOWSHIPS 2006 Aiming to offer, in Austria, a place for research and discussion crossing borders and disciplines, the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) currently has open calls for applications to four fellowship programmes. The deadlines are 15 and 22 December 2005 respectively. >>> 10. EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS The Council of Europe is launching a call for tender for an external agency to coordinate the European Heritage Days for a two-year period beginning in 2006. The closing date for proposals is 15 December 2005. >>> 11. GULLIVER CONNECT 2006 The Felix Meritis Foundation, Amsterdam announces the launch of the Gulliver Connect 2006 mobility programme under the title Connecting the Caucasus, offering some 15 grants for working placements for art practitioners from Europe, including the former Soviet Union and the Caucasus. The deadline for application is 15 December 2006. >>> 12. ART MOVES AFRICA Art Moves Africa (AMA) offers travel funds to artists, arts professionals and cultural operators living and working in Africa to travel within and between the five African regions in order to engage in an exchange of information, the enhancement of skills, the development of informal networks and the pursuit of cooperation. The latest call for applications closes on 1 January 2006. >>> 13. ELECTRIC RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL The Electric Renaissance art and music festival, forming part of the annual Händel-Festival to take place in Halle/Saale, Germany on 8-18 June 2006, calls out for artists to contribute and present their work within this year’s theme of Sound of the Icons. Application deadline is 10 January 2006. >>> 14. EUROPEAN DIPLOMA IN CULTURAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT The European Diploma in Cultural Project Management 2006 – 2007 organized by the Fondation Hicter is a pan-European training and learning programme arising from the will to foster cultural diversity and interregional exchange in Europe. Each year, around 25 professionals from 20 countries are taking part in the programme. The deadline for application is 15 January 2006. >>> 15. CLASSICAL AND FOLK DANCES OF INDIA WORKSHOP The Chandigarh Institute of Performing Arts (CIPA) invites dance students, artists, performers, choreographers and teachers aged 18 and above to attend the international workshop on classical and folk dances of India entitled Rhythm of Life, which will be held in Chandigarh, India, on 6-15 February 2006. Registration deadline is 26 November 2005. >>> 16. IMAGES CONTRE NATURE 2006 The 6th edition of Images Contre Culture, the International Festival of Experimental Video organized by Association P’Silo will be held in Marseilles, France, in the first week of July 2006. 17 INCLUSIVE EUROPE? HORIZON 2020 Aiming to maintain the momentum created by the Berlin conference A Soul for Europe, this Conference will bring together ministers and other high administrators of European culture in Budapest, Hungary, on 17-20 November 2005 under the title Inclusive Europe? Horizon 2020. The event will also incorporate the annual EFAH Conference and Assembly General Meeting. >>> 18. IASPIS WORKSHOP IN STOCKHOLM In connection with the release of European Cultural Policies 2015: A Report with Scenarios on the Future of Public Funding for Contemporary Art in Europe, a workshop with the authors will be held at Iaspis in Stockholm, Sweden, on 18-20 November 2005. >>> 19. EURO-MEDITERRANEAN CONFERENCE The Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and the Interarts Foundation are hosting an international conference entitled Culture in the Euro-Mediterranean Space, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, 22-23 November 2005. >>> 20. SOCIAL THEORY, POLITICS AND THE ARTS The 32nd Conference on Social Theory, Politics and the Arts (STP&A) - an annual inter-disciplinary gathering of researchers, policy makers and practitioners highlighting current and conceptual issues in the development of cultural policy, theory, and arts administration practices in the US and abroad - will take place in Vienna, Austria, on 9-11 July 2006. 21. ADUM: INFORMATION FOR FUNDING MINORITY LANGUAGE PROMOTION PROJECTS Founded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Open University of Catalonia, the ADUM project aims to provide information on European Union programmes relevant for the funding of minority language promotion projects. The project has recently launched its website, including a set of guidelines for developing proposals, a selection of case studies, relevant research resources and an interactive forum. >>> 22. CAMBODIA AND LAOS CULTURAL PROFILES The Visiting Arts' Cultural Profiles Project has moved two of its test sites, no longer requiring an access user name and password. 23. EUROPEAN CULTURAL POLICIES 2015 European Cultural Policies 2015: A Report with Scenarios on the Future of Public Funding for Contemporary Art in Europe, is a collaboration between Iaspis (International Artists Studio Programme in Sweden), eipcp (European Institute for Progressive Cultural Policies) and åbäke, an international design group based in London. >>> 24. DECLARATION ON INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE AND CONFLICT PREVENTION The Council of Europe has just published the Opatija Declaration on intercultural dialogue and conflict prevention adopted at the Conference of the European Ministers of Culture, held in Opatija, Croatia, on 20-22 October 2003. >>> 25. FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL COOPERATION IN AND WITH SOUTH EAST EUROPE The ECUMEST Association has carried out this survey commissioned by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF), with the participation of Relais Culture Europe, aiming to provide an overview of stakeholders supporting cultural cooperation in South East Europe. >>> 26. DEVELOPING NEW INSTRUMENTS TO MEET CULTURAL POLICY CHALLENGES The Centre for European Studies (CES), Thailand, published a Report of the Asia-Europe Seminar on Cultural Policy, that was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 24-27 June 2004 under the title Developing New Instruments to Meet Cultural Policy Challenges. >>> 27. GUIDANCE ON HERITAGE ASSESSMENT The guidance in this book derives from the experience acquired during the implementation of the joint Council of Europe and European Commission Integrated Rehabilitation Project Plan / Survey of the Architectural and Archaeological Heritage directed towards the countries of South East Europe. Concepts and principles are presented in the form of methodological guidance for integrated conservation and the sustainable use of heritage, helping to devise new European standards and to uphold the democratic principles promoted by the Council of Europe. >>> 28. INTERNATIONAL ARTS MANAGER In its November issue, the International Arts Manager (IAM) magazine explores the history and success of Radio France Internationale, presents the Göttingen Händel Festival, the world's longest-running early music festival, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the world of children's theatre, and includes a special report on Madrid. >>> 29. CULTURE – BIZ. LOCATING WOMEN AS FILM AND BOOK PUBLISHING PROFESSIONALS IN EUROPE Culture-Biz, an ERICarts Report, brings about transparency on the position of women working in two main fields of the creative industries at a time when the European Union is setting up a European Gender Institute to gather, analyse and disseminate comparative information and data to be used by policy makers, experts and stakeholders on gender equality in the European labour market. >>> 30. ACCESS TO ARCHIVES Access to Archives, a handbook of guidelines for the implementation of Recommendation No. R (2000) 13 on a European policy on access to archives, explains the principles that should govern access policy and practice in the 21st century, summarizing the main findings of a pan-European survey on the situation regarding access to archives, and formulating a set of guidelines for the implementation of the recommendation intended for civil servants and decision makers, archival authorities and archivists, the scholarly community and civil organizations. >>> |
