Call for Entries and Applications

1.   UNESCO YOUNG DIGITAL CREATORS

The UNESCO DigiArts Team invites young students and their teachers to participate in Session 2006 of the Young Digital Creators: Scenes and Sounds of my City programme, seeking to engage young people to reflect on the theme of city and creative digital media and to send a joint project proposal for undertaking a collaborative project. Deadline for submissions and registration is 3 May 2006. >>>

2.   WORLD URBAN FORUM 3

The third session of the World Urban Forum (WUF3) is to be held in Vancouver, Canada, on 19-23 June 2006 under the title Our Future: Sustainable Cities? Turning Ideas into Action. CineUrbana is now looking for recent films and videos for this event. Deadline for entries is 05 May 2006. >>>

3.   PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG CULTURAL MANAGERS FROM CE EUROPE

The Robert Bosch Foundation invites 12 young German-speaking cultural managers from Central and Eastern Europe to work and stay in Germany for one year. Selected candidates will work in a German cultural institution and present the young cultural scene of their home countries in their projects. Deadline for applications is 15 May 2006. >>>

4.   CREATIVE CLUSTERS

Proposals are invited for policy presentations, digital media presentations, workshops and posters to the Creative Clusters 2006 conference theme of Mainstreaming Creativity. The Call for Presentations is open until 22 May 2006. >>>

5.   DESIGNING POLITICS - THE POLITICS OF DESIGN

Conducting a discourse on the social responsibility of the designer and defining the democratic quality of design, the International Design Forum (IFG) Ulm, Germany announces its public call for project proposals addressing the above topic. The promotion programme creates free space for an autonomous, critical examination of current social processes. Applications for the 50.000 € grant must arrive by 31 May 2005. >>>

6.   EUROPA NOSTRA AWARDS

Application deadlines for the 2006 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage are 1 September 2006 for studies aiming to lead to tangible effects in conservation and 15 September 2006 for projects in the field of conservation of architectural heritage, cultural landscapes, works of art or archaeological sites and for dedicated services to heritage conservation by individuals or groups. >>>

7.   INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY PROGRAMMES FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

The Photo Club of Maribor, Slovenia invites international applicants to its Artist in Residence Programme. Interested photographers should send their CD portfolio, resume and a project proposal. >>>

8.   BACKYARD RESIDENCIES IN SOUTH-EASTERN EUROPE

The objective of the Backyard Residencies is to interconnect and link artists and local arts in South Eastern Europe in order to provoke artistic research. Twelve selected artists will be offered six- to eight-week residencies at three prestigious arts institutions in Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and Turkey. Deadline for applications is 1 May 2006. >>>

9.   EUROINTEGRATION THROUGH ART

ARS DOR Association with the support of the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (UNESCO) invites visual artists from Romania, Ukraine and Moldova to participate at the International Art Campus for Artists entitled Eurointegration through Art, to take place in Moldova, from 14 to 20 June 2006. Applications deadline is 15 May 2006. >>>

10.   MA IN FINE ART & MA IN DESIGN

MaHKU, the Graduate School for Visual Art and Design in Utrecht, The Netherlands, offers one-year interdisciplinary Masters programs in fine art and design created for an international body of students. Application deadline is 31 May 2006. >>>

11.   MASTER IN CULTURAL PROJECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT

The programme organized by the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin, Italy, to takle place from 15 June 2006 to 15 March 2007 is intended for recent university graduates as well as officials and professionals from the public, private and non-profit sectors with a first university degree who present a viable cultural project idea. Application deadline is 31 May 2006. >>>

12.   CURATORLAB 2006/2007

CuratorLab is an international one-year residency and a research/project based programme designed for emerging curators, critics, artists, writers and theorists. Starting from 2006, CuratorLab is a travelling programme with seminars moving between Stockholm, Berlin, Paris, Nicosia and Istanbul from August 2006 to June 2007. Application interviews for 10 selected candidates are planned to take place in Stockholm on 7 June 2006. >>>

13.   ARTISTS' STUDIO RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

Art Gene, a facility for working professional artists, announces New Opportunities for 2006/2007. International artists and curators are welcome to submit their applications to either the Residency Funding Scheme or the Residency Letting Scheme by 12 June 2006. >>>

14.   AMSU COURSE

Designed for cultural organisers, special event managers and producers, AMSU's course entitled International Production Management for Performing Arts will be held in Amsterdam on 28-31 August 2006. A limited number of scholarships is available for participants from Central and Eastern European countries. Application deadline is 15 June 2006. >>>

15.   MOBILE ACADEMY WARSAW

The fourth edition of the Mobile Academy will take place in Warsaw, Poland from 25 August to 10 September 2006 under the title of Ghosts, Spectres, Phantoms and the Places Where They Live. The programme will be led by internationally renowned artists giving lectures, one-on-one courses and presentations. The registration deadline is 15 June 2006. >>>

16.   THE SUMMER INSTITUTE

The San Francisco Art Institute announces The Summer Institute, an extensive schedule of interdisciplinary art education programmes taking place at the Institute from May through August 2006. Courses for credit include over 40 art history, critical studies, studio, and study/travel courses taught by leading artists and scholars. >>>

17.   INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL FOR CURATORS

The National Association of Art Critics of Armenia (NAAC) is organizing a two-week International Summer School for Curators to take place in Yerevan, Armenia on 03–17 July 2006. This Armenian pilot project is to gather 20 participants from the region and former communist countries. >>>

18.   INTERNATIONAL ACTING-DIRECTING LABORATORY

The International University “Global Theatre Experience” (IUGTE) is organizing an International Acting-Directing Laboratory under the guidance of Sergey Ostrenko. The programme taking place in Bologna, Italy on 3-8 July 2006 includes intensive practical training, theoretical discussions and lectures. >>>

19.   EUnetART ANNUAL MEETING

The European Network of Art Organizations for Children and Young People is organizing its annual conference in collaboration with the Zurich School of Music, Drama and Dance. The conference will be held in Zurich, from 10 to 14 May 2006. >>>

20.   DEBATE ON EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP

Under the title Preparing Cinderella, European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer are co-organizing a debate on the recent case law and legislation related to Eureopan Citizenship. The debate will be held on the eve of the European Foundation Centre’s annual general assembly on 24 May 2006 in Brussels. >>>

21.   ARTS EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING

Les Recontres, the Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture announces Les Recontres de Patras on Arts Education and Lifelong Learning to take place from 30 May to 02 June 2006 in Patras, Greece. >>>

22.   PROMOTING CULTURAL EDUCATION IN EUROPE

In the context of the Austrian EU-presidency, KulturKontak Austria announces a European specialist conference to be held in Graz, Austria on 08–10 June 2006 to discuss the contribution of formal and non-formal cultural education to European issues under the title A Contribution to Participation, Innovation and Quality. >>>

23.   MEDIA IN ASIA: ASPIRATIONS, CHOICES AMD REALITIES

The Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) announces its 15th annual conference to be held in Penang, Malaysia, on 17-20 July 2006. The conference is open to academic, media industry professionals, government media agencies, policymakers, regulators, UN agencies, donors, research groups, civil society organizations, independent consultants and students. >>>

24.   MANAGING DESTINATIONS IN A COMPETITIVE WORLD

The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change, Sheffield Hallam University, announces its conference on Culture, Heritage and Tourism to be held in Riga, Latvia on 12-13 October 2006, aimed at all those with interests in and responsibilities for the development, planning, management and marketing of destinations for tourism, culture and heritage at national, regional and local levels. >>>

25.   INETRREG IIIA ADRIATIC CROSSBORDER OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME

Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Italy (Puglia and Abruzzo regions) are involved in the AR.CO – Artistic Connections Project led by the Local Government of the Puglia Region within the framework of the EU International Cooperation Programme INTERREG IIIA Adriatic Crossborder Operational Programme with the aim of creating an international cultural network between public administrations, cultural institutions and enterprises acting in the field of cultural promotion and production on both sides of the Adriatic Sea. >>>

26.   AMSTERDAM-MAASTRICHT SUMMER UNIVERSITY

The Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University recently launched its redesigned website featuring clearly structured course information. Comments are welcome at www.amsu.edu.

27.   METROPOLISES OF EUROPE. DIVERSITY IN URBAN CULTURAL LIFE

Pro Cultura Foundation announces its latest publication edited by Dorota Ilczuk and Yudhishthir Raj Isar presenting CIRCLE's research project entitled Metropolis of Europe – Urban Cultural Life and Inter-city Cultural Interactions for "Cultural Diversity" in Europe. >>>

28.   CULTURE AT THE HEART OF TRANSITION

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia have jointly published an independent study by Charles Landry entitled Culture at the Heart of Transition. The downloadable study looks at lessons learned within cooperation projects funded by the Swiss Cultural Programme Southeast Europe and Ukraine (SCP). >>>

29.   ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL

On 19 April 2006, Columbia University hosted the launch of Corina Suteu's new book entitled Antoher Brick in the Wall. A Critical Review of Cultural Management Education in Europe. Commissioned by the Boekman Foundation and the Amsterdam University and published by Boekmanstudies, Amsterdam, the book provides a critical comparative analysis of developments and provision in academic training in cultural management and policies in Europe. >>>

30.   FINNISH CUTURAL FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT 2004 – 2005

The Finnish Cultural Foundation has published its annual report for 2004 – 2005. The report reflects and demonstrates the cultural activities undertaken by the Foundation, the grants and awards presented by the Foundation, and gives an overview and analysis of the finances during the period. >>>
