3. MAPPING THE CULTURAL ECONOMY IN THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN REGION Within the framework of its 8th Mediterranean Research Meeting, to be held in Florence and Montecatini Terme, Italy on 21–25 March 2007, the European University Institute will host this workshop directed by Yudhishthir Raj Isar and Luís Bonet. Applications deadline is 10 July 2006. >>> 4. ASIAN ACADEMY FOR HERITAGE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY MEETING AND CONFERENCE An AAHM Strategy Meeting and Research Conference are scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 2-4 October 2006, aiming to discuss the future development of the network and elect an Asian Academy Steering Committee, as well as foster the exchange of knowledge among its members. Abstracts of papers under the overall theme of Asian Approaches to Conservation are invited by 15 July 2006. >>> 5. 2006 ICOMOS – CIAV ANNUAL MEETING The ICOMOS International Committee of Vernacular Architecture (CIAV) has launched a call for papers for the 2006 CIAV Scientific Conference entitled Pride of Place, to be held in Pátzcuaro, Mexico in November 2006. The conference sub-themes include Cultural Identity through Vernacular Heritage and Preserving Traditional Materials and Local Construction Systems. The deadline for submission is 15 September 2006. >>> 6. 9th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARTS AND CULTURAL MANAGEMENT The International Association of Arts and Cultural Management, the organizer of AIMAC 2007, to be held in Valencia, Spain from 8-11 July 2007, invites the submission of papers concerning any aspect of arts and cultural management. 7. ICCM MBA DEGREES IN INTERNATIONAL ARTS MANAGEMENT The International Centre for Culture and Management (ICCM) has started the assessment of applicants for its MBA programme in International Arts Management, organized in cooperation with the University of Salzburg Business School (SMBS), Columbia College Chicago and Fudan University in Shanghai. >>> 8. BARCELONA UNIVERSITY POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME IN CULTURAL MANAGEMENT For almost two decades, the Barcelona University Postgraduate Programme in Cultural Management has been making efforts to offer high quality training in order to provide skilled professionals with intellectual curiosity. Courses for 2006-2007 are now announced and applications invited. >>> 9. A SOUL FOR EUROPE The People Network, a project of the Felix Meritis Foundation, is looking for bright, young Europeans to participate in the debate on Europe, its heritage and expectations for the future, to be continued at the second edition of the Berlin Conference: A Soul for Europe, to be held on 17–19 November 2006. >>> 10. CUBAN FESTIVALS CALL FOR PARTICIPATION The Department of Festivals of the Ministry of Culture in the province of Holguín, Cuba, wishes to link with cultural institutions all over the world. For those interested in participating, numerous Festivals are organized, revolving around the promotion of young arts in all its forms - painting, music, dance, theatre, literature - and the promotion of different cultures and ways of living. >>> 11. ICCROM COURSE ON CONSERVATION OF BUILT HERITAGE 2007 To be held in Rome, Italy, from 1 February to 30 March 2007, this course aims to serve a wide range of conservation practitioners and decision makers by placing technical issues in the broader conservation context. Applications should reach ICCROM by 31 July 2006. >>> 12. AMSTERDAM-MAASTRICHT SUMMER UNIVERSITY 2006 COURSES This year's programme includes the following courses: Risk Communication: A Future Challenge in a Globalised World (28-30 July), International Production Management for the Performing Arts (28-31 August), People-Powered Networking (3–5 September), and Political Campaigns, Communication & Internet (13-15 September). Applications are invited. >>> 13. eCONTENTPLUS CALL FOR PROPOSALS The European Parliament and the Council have launched the second call for proposals of eContentPlus for targeted projects for digital libraries and a thematic network on cultural content under the digital libraries (cultural and scientific/scholarly content) action. The provisional deadline for the receipt of proposals is 19 October 2006. >>> 14. PARIS UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL (PIUFF #3) In their call for entries, the Festival organizers are looking for a wide range of films to be submitted for selection by end of February 2007. 15. CULTURAL MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP FOR OPERATORS FROM THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN AREA The workshop to be held in Paris, France, on 4-10 October 2006, is part of the MELOPEE programme developed by AMUNI, aimed at supporting cultural operators from the Mediterranean area in developing their work in the region. CVs and a project descriptions are to be sent by 18 July 2006. >>> 16. ORACLE SEMINAR AND 9th MEETING ORACLE and NGO Kontrapunkt from Skopje, Macedonia are organizing the 9th meeting of ORACLE members to be held in Ohrid, Macedonia, from 7-9 September 2006. The seminar will gather cultural managers and operators from the region, providing a space for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Registration deadline is 30 July 2006. >>> 17. CULTURE AND ART IN COOPERATION AMONG NATIONS The registration deadline of the 1st international conference organized by the Art and Sport Supporting NGO, to take place in Yerevan, Armenia, from 16-19 October 2006 under the title Role and Significance of Culture and Art in Strengthening and Development of Cooperation Among Nations is 16 August 2006. >>> 18. ISLANDS AND BRIDGES: ROADMAPS TO INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE? The 14th General Assembly of the European Forum for the Arts and Heritage (EFAH), to be held in Helsinki, Finland on 5–7 October 2006, aims to investigate and understand the value and importance of intercultural dialogue in the European context and to discuss the standing policy initiatives in this field. >>> 19. SCOPE II – OBJECTS AND STORIES The international conference scope II – Objects and Their Stories, to take place in Vienna, Austria, on 28-29 September 2006, is part of a series of conferences trying to join different disciplines on one topic and highlight the impact of those thinkings on the issue of intangible cultural heritage. >>> 20. INTERACCIÓ 2006 Organized by the Cultural Studies Centre of the Culture Department (Diputació de Barcelona) under the title of Cultural Policies and Proximity, INTERACCIÓ 2006 will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 25-27 October 2006. >>> 21. EUROCITIES CULTURE FORUM The organizers of the Eurocities Culture Forum, held in Nottingham, UK, on 8-11 June 2006, have published the meeting's highlights. The event gathered more than 60 professionals from some 40 major European cities, and was devoted to the EU Year of Intercultural Dialogue and the sustainability of cultural strategies in European cities. >>> |

22. 12th KALAMATA INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL The Kalamata International Dace Centre announces the 12th edition of its Dance Festival, featuring performances, master classes, workshops, lectures, videos, concerts, exhibitions and meet-the-artist events, to take place in Kalamata, Greece, on 14-23 July 2006. >>> 23. ZIMBABWE INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR The Organising Committee of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) has announced a general call for papers for the Indaba 2006 international conference, to be held under the general theme of Africa: The Cradle of Conversation in Harare, Zimbabwe, on 1-5 August 2006, with the aim to debate issues relevant to social developments in Africa and the African publishing industry. >>> 24. WORLD BOOK CAPITAL 2008 Amsterdam has been chosen as the 2008 World Book Capital by a selection committee comprised of representatives of UNESCO and the three main international organizations representing the book industry, that met at UNESCO on 8 June 2006. >>> |

LABFORCULTURE GOES LIVE LabforCulture, the dynamic, new interactive website aimed at all those in arts and culture who collaborate, create, share and produce work across borders in Europe, went live on the 8 June 2006. >>> 26. CONNECTCP - WHO'S WHO OF CULTURAL POLICY, PLANNING AND RESEARCH IFACCA and Boekmanstichting have launched ConnectCP, the International Who's Who of Cultural Policy, Planning and Research at the World Summit on Arts and Culture held on 17 June 2006, and are calling experts for inclusion in the online database already containing 229 expert profiles from 53 countries. >>> 27. ALBANIAN NATIONAL TRUST'S REGIONAL YOUTH SUMMER CAMP The Albanian National Trust is organizing a Regional Youth Summer Camp to work in preserving and restoring an old Sufi Monastery in southern Albania, taking place in Gyirokastra from June to August 2006. The aim of the camp is to gather some 40 youths from the region to attend a series of leadership and ethnic reconciliation sessions while participating in the reconstruction of an important historical site. >>> |

It evaluates the best online resources, the major general reference tools in print format, current bibliographies and indexing services, biographical, cartographic, statistical and economic resources, as well as film and video resources. >>> 29. FIRST ISSUE OF THE CROATIAN THEATRE MAGAZINE Published by the Croatian Centre of ITI-UNESCO, this magazine is a successor of the bulletin Croatian Drama and Theatre. The first issue features interesting texts on Croatian playwrights, gives an overview of International Theatre Festivals in Croatia and an outline on new Croatian plays. >>> 30. EUROPEAN CULTURAL FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT 2005 The European Cultural Foundation's newly designed Annual Report 2005 brings detailed information on activities undertaken in 2005 and an overview of the preparations for the way ahead. >>> 31. HERITAGE FOR THE FUTURE The main statements and presentations from the European Symposium on Heritage for the Future – Realising the Economic and Social Potential of a Key Asset have recently been published.
