2. InSEA 2007 – ART EDUCATION RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CONGRESS The University of Education Heidelberg is organizing a two-day event to take place in Heidelberg, Germany on 18 - 20 July 2007, focusing on arts education and education possibilities in the arts sector, aiming to present new methods of teaching and learning in the framework of arts education. The abstracts deadline is 15 September 2006. >>> 3. 14th TRIENNIAL SYMPOSIUM ON AFRICAN ART The theme of the 2007 Symposium, to be held in Gainesville, Florida, USA, from 28 March to 1 April 2007, emphasizes the place of African expressive arts in global contexts, encouraging panels and papers that address Africa's international and trans-cultural reach. The deadline for paper abstracts is 15 September 2006.>>> 4. 14th ETN CONFERENCE – COLLABORATION ACROSS TEXTILES AND TECHNOLOGY The 14th ETN Conference will be held in London, UK, on 13 - 16 September 2007 with the aim of bringing together people working in textiles and in research teams across art, science and technology. Scholars, artists, gallery and museum professionals, educators and fans of textiles are encouraged to participate by submitting proposals for discussion by 15 December 2006. >>> |

5. CHINA EUROPE PERFORMING ARTS MEETING IETM and the China Association of Performing Arts (CAPA) are organizing a meeting entitled Tradition & Innovation: Challenging Perspectives, to be held in Beijing, China, on 12-16 October and in Shanghai on 17-18 October 2006, open to any performing arts professional interested in working with China and Europe. Registration closes on 15 September 2006. >>> 6. 20th WORLD CONGRESS ON DANCE RESEARCH "PROMOTION OF DIVERSITY" This largest gathering of dance specialists world-wide will be held in Athens, Greece, on 25-29 October 2006 under the title Promotion of Diversity. The deadline for the submission of proposals of research reports, lecture-demonstrations, classes, non-profit performances or exhibitions is 15 September 2006. >>> 7. UPCOMING CUBAN FESTIVALS SEEK PARTICIPANTS The Cuban Ministry of Culture’s Department of Festivals invites participation in the upcoming Iberoamerican Culture Festival and the Iberoamerican Thought Congress in October as well as the traditional Cuban Music Festival in November. Paper proposals for the Congress are accepted by 30 September 2006. >>> 8. FAMUL STUART SCHOOL FOR APPLIED ARTS CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS The School for Applied Arts Famul Stuart from Ljubljana, Slovenia has an open call for applications for the enrollment into current and next year's courses. >>> 9. 2007 ACCESS TO LEARNING AWARD Recognizing excellence in providing access to information through computers, at no cost to the user, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation offers an annual Access to Learning Award of up to US $1 million for work already completed or in progress - this is not a grant. Application deadline is 31 December 2007. >>> 10. UNESCO / KEIZO OBUCHI RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME Young researchers in developing countries are invited to apply for grants through the UNESCO / Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowship Programme, offering 20 fellowships for a maximum of US$ 10,000 each, targeting post-graduate university researchers with a Masters degree, or equivalent, in one of four fields: the environment, inter-cultural dialogue, information and communication technology, and peaceful conflict resolution. AUDIENCES EUROPE NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE The Arts Marketing Association (AMA) announces the Audiences Europe Network (AEN) Annual Conference to take place in The Hague, The Netherlands, on 4-6 October 2006. Under the title All Together Now, it will explore social networks and community partnerships. >>> 13. TRANSNATIONAL IDENTITIES – CITIES UNBOUND – MIGRATIONS REDEFINED The Centre for European Studies, the Jagiellonian University and the Centre for Research on Nationalism, Ethnicity and Multiculturalism (CRONEM) at the University of Surrey are organizing this international conference to be held in Cracow, Poland on 6-8 October 2006, focusing on the most recent research on migration and urban social spaces in the 21st century. >>> 14. ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF CULTURE AND ART IN COOPERATION AMONG NATIONS The conference entitled Role and Significance of Culture and Art in Strengthening and Development of Cooperation Among Nations, to be held in Yerevan, Armenia from 16-19 October 2006, aims to support the dialogue of culture by means of national political power, to strengthen and approach the relations of states and nations, cooperating with professionals in culture and art of other countries. >>> 15. LINGUISTICS RIGHTS AS A MATTER OF SOCIAL INCLUSION The V Mercator International Symposium organised this year by the Legislation and Language Rights Center will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 19-21 October 2006, reflecting on the kind of multilingualism that the European Union should put into practice. Registration deadline is 9 October 2006.>>> 16. FREUND TEACHING FELLOWSHIP The College & Graduate School of Art, Washington University in St. Louis and the Saint Louis Art Museum invite applications for the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellowship. Two separate Fellowships will be awarded – one for Fall 2007 – Spring 2008 and a second for Fall 2008 – Spring 2009. Application deadline is 16 October 2006. >>> 19. LAUNCH OF THE PACT CULTURAL PORTAL The Consultancy Centre for Cultural European Programmes has launched PACT Online, a new interactive cultural portal serving as information, communication and networking platform for cultural operators in South-East Europe. CULTURAL INDICATORS MAILING LIST The Creative City Network of Canada's Centre of Expertise on Culture and Communities is launching a listserv for sharing information and updates, posing questions, and discussing issues on Cultural Indicators. 24. MANAGING WORLD HERITAGE SITES Managing World Heritage Sites is the title of a new book edited by Anna Leask and Alan Fyall, covering management issues encountered at cultural, natural and mixed UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and critically reviewing the role of tourism activity, encouraging discussion of positive ways to balance tourism activities, economic benefit and cultural aspects, whilst minimizing any damage to resources. >>> 25. CULTURAL INDICATORS FOR NEW ZEALAND The report Cultural Indicators for New Zealand has been published as part of the Cultural Statistics Programme jointly operated by Statistics New Zealand and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. Theme areas include engagement; cultural identity; diversity; social cohesion; and economic development. >>> 26. EUROPA NOSTRA ANNUAL REPORT 2005 The 2005 annual special issue of Europa Nostra’s European Cultural Heritage Review is dedicated to the year’s laureates of the European Union Prize of Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards. >>> 27. RESIDENCIES: SPACES+ARTISTS+MANAGERS+COMMUNITIES Published by the Asia-Europe Foundation, this publication features shared experiences, reflections and suggestions on artist in residence programmes and aims to shed more light on both the potential and the challenges of artist residency programmes, particularly between Asia and Europe, highlighting the relevance of artist exchange and mobility and emphasizing the role of civil societies and local communities in reference to culture and the arts. >>> 28.
