INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS LABORATORY Organized by IUGTE and open to script writers, playwrights, directors, actors of dramatic, physical, musical and dance theatres, dancers, choreographers and teachers of theatre methods looking for change, transformation and the new creative turning-points in professional work, the Laboratory will be held in Riga, Latvia, on 30 March – 04 April 2007. A limited number of places is available. >>> 5. 9th ANNUAL KOKKALIS GRADUATE STUDENT WORKSHOP The Kokkalis Program on Southeastern and East-Central Europe, John F. 9. INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON CULTURAL RIGHTS AND DIVERSITY The Korean National Commission for UNESCO is organizing this international forum to be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on 14-15 November 2006, focusing on the identification and analysis of the principles of cultural rights and diversity as stated in international instruments, and their application in public circles. >>> 10. CULTURAL POLICIES AND IMMIGRATION: EXPERIENCES AND REFLECTIONS Organized by the Interarts Foundation, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and the DG Cultural Cooperation and Communication of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, this seminar aims to create a meeting point for the two working areas of cultural policy and immigration. The seminar will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 21-22 November 2006. >>> 11. CULTURAL PORTAL CULTUREGUIDE.GR SHUT DOWN A call for support has been launched by cultureguide.gr, Greece's internationally awarded cultural portal which has been shut down by the Ministry of Culture just a day after the opening of the Internet Governance Forum in Athens, Greece. >>> 19. NEW ELIA WEBSITE GOES LIVE The new ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts) website has gone online. With it, ELIA is entering a whole new and more interactive era, offering members a forum to exchange research experiences and a member search engine to establish contacts and cooperation. >>> 20. MAPPING OF FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR THE ARAB WORLD The King Hussein Foundation Information and Research Center, commissioned by the European Cultural Foundation in collaboration with Ford Foundation (Cairo) and SIDA, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, is currently conducting a mapping of funds available for the cultural sector in the Arab world. >>> |

DIFFERING DIVERSITIES – EASTERN EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVES The Council of Europe has published a new book by Andera Ellmeier and Béla Rásky which takes a look at the shift from homogeneity to diversity as the new social norm requiring a rethinking of the processes, mechanisms and relationships necessary for democratic policy development in diverse societies. >>> 22. CHALLENGE OF TRANSCULTURAL DIVERSITIES – CULTURAL POLICY AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY Another addition to Council of Europe's publication series, this book offers an overview of how the economic dynamics of globalization have intensified not only the transnational flows of cultural goods, media products and information, but also human transnational migration. >>> 23. MEDIA INTERNATIONAL AUSTRALIA Media International Australia incorporating Culture and Policy is published by the School of English, Media Studies and Art History in association with the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, University of Queensland.
