1.   NEW ISSUE IN THE CULTURELINK JOINT PUBLICATIONS SERIES

The latest, ninth edition of the Culturelink Joint Publications Series, edited by Nina Obuljen and Joost Smiers, is entitled UNESCO's Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Making It Work. As the Culturelink Network carries themes of cultural diversity and policy on diversity at the core of its mission and research work, this book is an expected outcome of Culturelink's activities to introduce the latest initiatives on the promotion of cultural diversity to its members and wider audiences. >>>

2.   LATIN AMERICANIST / CARIBBEANIST ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) of the New York University, with a vibrant MA programme and links with doctoral programmes, invites applications for an Assistant Professor / Faculty Fellow. The initial appointment begins on 1 September 2007, renewable annually for a maximum of three years. Application deadline is 15 December 2006. >>>

3.   THEATRE IN AFRICA – AFRICA IN THEATRE

Hosted by the Centre for Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Stellenbosch, the Annual Conference of the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) entitled Theatre in Africa – Africa in Theatre will be held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on 10–14 July 2007. New scholars are invited to submit papers to be presented at a special session or to participate in the New Scholars' Prize by 15 December 2006. >>>

4.   IFEA EUROPE ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2007

The Hellenic Culture Organisation (HCO) announces the 16th IFEA Europe Annual Conference, the leading festivals and events management Conference in Europe, to be held in Athens, Greece on 14-17 February 2007 with the central theme of The Art of Growing: Lifecycles of Festivals and Events. Abstracts deadline is 22 December 2006. >>>

5.   SONG, STAGE & SCREEN II

The School of Performance and Cultural Industries of the University of Leeds invites papers to its international conference on interdisciplinary approaches to the musical stage, to be held in Leeds, UK, on 23-25 March 2007. The submission deadline for abstracts is 5 January 2007. >>>

6.   ELIA'S 3RD BIENNIAL TEACHERS' ACADEMY

ELIA's 3rd Biennial Teachers' Academy to be held in Brighton, UK on 11-14 July 2007 under the umbrella theme of creativity in Higher Arts Education. Contribution proposals for trigger papers / case studies, practical workshops and showcase presentations are being accepted through 29 January 2007. >>>

7.   THIRD INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL PAINT RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2008

A call for papers discussing case studies has been launched for this conference that is to be held at the Columbia University in New York City, USA on 17-19 January 2008. The deadline for abstracts is 1 March 2007. >>>

8.   PLANNING FOR HERITAGE BUILDING MAINTENANCE

The Cultural Resource Management Program (CRMP) at the University of Victoria offers a six-day intensive course for heritage building managers and policy makers, to be held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on 29 January – 3 February 2007, aiming to explore approaches to planning for the sustainable maintenance of heritage structures and buildings. Registration deadline is 29 December 2006. >>>

9.   2007 US/ICOMOS INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

US/ICOMOS is seeking intern applicants and host organizations in the United States and abroad for its 2007 programme. Through grants from private foundations and contributions from US host organizations, between 10 and 15 internships overseas for U.S. preservationists at the early stages of their careers and as many internships in the United States for non-U.S. citizens are offered. Applications are due by 30 January 2007.>>>

10.   EUROPEAN NETWORK: CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT

As part of the three-year EC-funded Culture and Development project, carried out by the German NGO CulturCooperation e.V., the Vienna Institute for Development and Cooperation (VIDC) is organizing a networking conference entitled European Network: Culture and Development, to be held in Vienna, Austria on 25-27 January 2007. Application deadline is 31 December 2006. >>>

11.   CULTURAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGY

Applications are now open for the third Annual Field School entitled Cultural Impact Assessment and Maritime Achaeology, organized by the UNESCO-ICCROM Asian Academy for Heritage Management (AAHM), to be held in Galle, Sri Lanka on 1-9 April 2007. Application deadline is 31 December 2006. >>>

12.   MA IN CULTURAL STUDIES AND CRITICAL THEORY

McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, invites applications to its MA in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory, aiming to allow students to examine a wide range of cultural forms and expressions, from influential philosophical texts and avant-garde theoretical reflections, to materials and practices that have been typically overlooked in university study. Application deadline is 15 January 2007. >>>

13.   ART OMI INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS' RESIDENCY

The Art Omi International Artists' Residency offers visual artists three-week residencies in the historic Hudson River Valley, USA, in July 2007, concluding with an Open Studios event. Application deadline is 15 January 2007. >>>

14.   MA IN GLOBALIZATION STUDIES

The Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition (IGHC) of McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada will host the first M.A. programme on the study of globalization, offering a blend of social science and humanities perspectives on globalization, and giving students the benefit of an interdisciplinary and flexible selection of courses that allow for future study in a core discipline. Application deadline is 1 February 2007. >>>

15.   CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF THE ARTS' DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

The California College of the Arts' (CCA) Graduate Program in Fine Arts seeks applicants from diverse social and cultural backgrounds to participate in an interdisciplinary pedagogic environment focused within and beyond the fine arts. >>>

16.   INTERNATIONAL DANCE COMPETITIONS

Dance schools, departments and groups are invited to perform at two prestigious international dance events – the Barcelona Dance Awards, to be held in Barcelona, Spain on 5-9 April 2007 and the Dance Grand Prix Italy, taking place in Venice and Florence, Italy on 21-25 June 2007. Application deadlines are 5 March and 1 May 2007 respectively. >>>

17.   EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF ARTS AND CULTURAL EDUCATION

Reminder: On the initiative of the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, on 10-12 January 2007 the Centre Pompidou in Paris will host an international research symposium on evaluating the impact of arts and cultural education on children and young people. >>>

18.   FESTIVAL COMPLICITATS 2007 MEETING

From 12–18 February 2007, La Mekanica from Barcelona will organize an international meeting of professional contemporary dance makers of the Mediterranean, Arab and European countries in the framework of Festival Complicitats 2007, a new international and intercultural contemporary dance festival that will take place in Barcelona on 20 January - 18 February 2007. >>>
