1.   THE CREATIVE CITY: CROSSING VISIONS AND NEW REALITIES IN THE REGION

Representing a collection of papers from the postgraduate course on Cultural Transitions in Southeastern Europe, held in 2006 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, this latest book in the Culturelink Joint Publications Series gathers contributions by 17 authors who analyze the position of cities and their cultural role in the countries of Southeastern and Central Europe. The proceedings deal with conceptual frameworks of the creative city debate and offer case studies from the region. >>>

5.   THE UNION FOR DEMOCRATIC COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE: ENCLOSURE, EMANCIPATORY COMMUNICATION AND THE GLOBAL CITY

The UDC invites proposals from artists, activists and media scholars, for presentations, roundtables, workshops and panels to be presented in Vancouver, Canada, on 25-28 October 2007, examining the relationship between forces of enclosure and emancipation, especially in the context of the global city. The Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) calls producers and directors who wish to enter their features, documentaries, shorts or animation films to the 10th Festival of the Dhow Countries, that celebrates the cultures of Africa and those sharing the Indian Ocean basin, to submit their work on DVD by 1 April 2007. >>>

Organized by International University Global Theatre Experience (IUGTE), Theatre Methods is an annual professional conference-festival raising the question of the Bridge between Tradition and Contemporaneity in performing arts. 12.   INTERNATIONAL TRAINING SEMINAR ON CULTURE AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Datey Group is organizing a series of seminars on Culture, Tourism and Socio-Economic Development in Frankfurt with additional professional visits to Paris and Brussels. The Summer Session is to take place on 25 June - 6 July 2007, while the Fall Session will be held on 17-28 September 2007. 13.   2007 INTERNATIONAL CUENCA BIENNIAL

Under the title Identity Spaces and Time, the 9th edition of the Cuenca Biennal, to be held on 11 April – 8 June 2007, will focus on collective commemoration in the space-time structure of the city. The year 2007 marks anniversaries of both the Biennal and the city of Cuenca, Ecuador: the Biennal celebrates its 20th year of existence and Cuenca, which is part of UNESCO's World Heritage List, its 450th jubilee of Spanish foundation. >>>

18.   CRACOW INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CENTRE'S SUMMER PROGRAMMES

In July 2007 the International Cultural Centre will organise the 17th edition of the College for New Europe summer programmes to be held in Cracow, Poland with the aim of bringing together young students and scholars to discuss political, cultural and social issues of today in an international forum. >>>

19.   RESIDENCY PROGRAMME AT INSTITUTO SACTAR IN BAHIA, BRASIL

The Instituto Sacatar, member of Res Artis, operates a residency programme for creative individuals in all disciplines at its estate on the Island of Itaparica in the Bay of All Saints, across from the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. A fellowship to Sacatar provides roundtrip airfare and a separate studio. >>>
