SIETAR 2008 The Society for Intercultural Education Training and Research invites proposals for presentations and workshops at its 2008 world congress in Granada, Spain on 22-26 October 2008 under the title How Globalization Affects Cultures and Cultures Shape Globalization. Proposals deadline is 15 March 2008. >>> 4. CREATIVE COMMUNITIES AND THE MAKING OF PLACE The Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) calls for papers to be presented at Arte-Polis 2, an international conference and workshop with the theme of Creative Communities and the Making of Place: Sharing Creative Experiences, to take place in Bandung, Indonesia from 8-10 August 2008. Abstracts are invited by 21 March 2008. >>> 5. E-JOURNAL CALL FOR PAPERS The e-journal of the UNESCO Observatory on Multi-disciplinary Research in the Arts at The University of Melbourne's Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, invites papers to its Vol 1, Issue 2, entitled Creative Local Communities: Cultural Vitality and Human Rights. The call closes on 31 March 2008. >>> 6. PERFORMING THE WORLD '08 Under the theme Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, PTW '08, to be held in New York City on 2-5 October 2008, invites proposals from all who are involved in performance work that is related to cultural, economic or psychological development, community-building, social justice, citizenry, individual and social transformation, social entrepreneurship, etc. Proposals are due 1 April 2008. >>> 7. COLLOQUIUM TO CLOSE THE EUROPEAN YEAR OF INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE A call for contributions to the Colloquium to Close the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, to be held in Paris, France on 17-19 November 2008, has been launched. ASAFRINGE Aiming at developing street arts in Korea, promoting cultural exchange between countries, and relating to the audiences, the 2008 Ansan Street Arts Festival (ASAF), to be held in Ansan, Korea on 3 - 5 May 2008 invites professional artists or theatres with experience in street performances. Application deadline is 29 February 2008. >>> 9. GULLIVER CONNECT Gulliver Connect, the mobility programme through work placements for young and up-coming artists, art managers and cultural operators in Europe launched a call for applications for 2008 to candidates from Albania, Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia. The deadline for applications is 15 March 2008. >>> 10. E-MOBILART: EUROPEAN MOBILE LAB FOR INTERACTIVE ARTISTS European Mobile Lab for Interactive Media Artists (e-MobiLArt), a project tailored around the process of creating collaborative interactive installation artworks, calls scientists and artists from all disciplines to take part in three workshops. The deadline for applications is 16 March 2008. >>> 11. EUROPEAN FESTIVAL RESEARCH PROJECT The European Festival Research Project (EFRP) invites researchers to submit proposals for inclusion in its 2008 research workshops: Urban Impact of Artistic Festivals to be held in Helsinki, Finalnd on 11-12 April 2008 and Festivals of Theater for Children and Youth, Moscow, Russia on 31 October – 1 November 2008. Submission deadline for the Moscow event is 15 May 2008. >>> 12. HENKEL ART.AWARD. 2008 FOR CONTEMPORARY DRAWING For the seventh time Vienna-based Henkel Central Eastern Europe (Henkel CEE) announces its annual Henkel Art.Award. 2008 for Contemporary Drawing for 29 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia endowed with EUR 7.000. Entries deadline is 8 June 2008. >>> 13. HENKEL ART.AWARD. 2008 FOR YOUNG ARTISTS The Artists-in-Residence Program of KulturKontakt Austria offers a three-month scholarship in Vienna to artists from the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe, encompassing a studio, accommodations, insurance, a monthly monetary grant. SYDNEY COLLEGE OF THE ARTS CALL FOR GRADUATE APPLICATIONS The Sydney College of the Arts (SCA), the visual arts faculty of the University of Sydney established in 2007, delivers a range of professional development Masters degrees in documentary photography, film and digital image, interactive and digital media, and studio art. The School also offers a research Masters and PhD program in contemporary visual art. Applications for July 2008 close 30 April 2008, applications for March 2009 close 31 October 2008. >>> 16. CULTURAL OBSERVATORIES AND CULTURAL INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE The first meeting of the ENCATC working group on Cultural Observatories and Cultural Information and Knowledge will be held in Split, Croatia on 12-14 March 2008 to discuss the Relationship Between Training Programs, Cultural Observatories and Research on Cultural Policy and Management. >>> 18. GIVING A STRONGER VOICE TO CIVIL SOCIETY IN THE EUROPEAN NEIGHBOURHOOD The European Citizen Action Service from Brussels and the Centre for Information Service, Cooperation and Development of NGOs from Ljubljana organise this event to be held under the auspices of the Slovenian EU Presidency in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia on 2 April 2008, aimed at civil society representatives from Western Balkans, Turkey, Eastern Europe ENP partners and Russia, the EU and officials from EU Institutions and national governments. >>> 19. INTERCULTURAL CITIES CONFERENCE Organised by EUCLID and Comedia as part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, the Intercultural Cities Conference, to be held in Liverpool, UK, on 1-3 May 2008, will look at migration, diversity and urban life in a fresh way. >>> 20. ACHIEVING THE FREER CIRCULATION OF CULTURAL ARTIFACTS The Salzburg Global Seminar, Schloss Leopoldskron, will convene its 453rd Session in Salzburg, Austria, from 9-14 May 2008, aiming to build consensus among cultural authorities and museum representatives from around the world on ways to overcome legal, political, and practical obstacles to the circulation of cultural object. >>> 21. INTERDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP SERIES ON KEY CONCEPTS IN TOURISM RESEARCH The PhD-students at the Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change at Leeds Metropolitan University took an initiative to organize a workshop series on key concepts in tourism research. 22. UTRECHT CONSORTIUM Utrecht Consortium, a new initiative of the Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design (MaHKU) and the Utrecht art institutions Casco, Office for Art, Design and Theory, and Expodium, Platform for Young Art, aims to investigate the specificity of artistic knowledge production in the context of exhibition making, and the significance of research-based practices for the (reformulation of the) curriculum in the current art academy. >>> 23. DANCE DAY On 29 April Dance Day will be celebrated all over the world by the international community of dancers and dance enthusiasts with the main purpose of attracting the attention of the wider public to the art of dance. >>> 24. SUPPORT PROGRAMME TO CULTURAL INDUSTRIES IN ACP COUNTRIES The Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Secretariat) launches a Support Programme to cultural industries in 79 ACP countries aiming at contributing to the development and restructuring of the cultural sector through the promotion of an enabling environment for enhancing creativity, cooperation and exchanges, independency and viability, as well as the safeguarding of cultural diversity and fundamental cultural values. >>> |

NEIGHBOURHOOD - THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF NEIGHBOURHOOD RENEWAL The International Journal of Neighbourhood Renewal, an exciting new that seeks to publish articles and book reviews that focus upon sharing good practice in Neighbourhood Renewal and promoting good research and evaluation in the field, launched a call for papers for its first issue to appear in September 2008. >>> 26. ANALYSIS AND REFORM OF CULTURAL HERITAGE POLICIES IN SOUTH EAST EUROPE This Council of Europe publication represents the first stage of a "transnational theme-based debate" held as part of the Institutional Capacity Building Plan, the first of the three components of the Regional Programme for Cultural and Natural Heritage in South-East Europe launched in 2003. >>> 27. TOURISM, CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT: HOPES, DREAMS AND REALITIES IN EAST INDONESIA Offering a valuable corrective to the macro-analyses that dominate the tourism literature, taking an anthropologist's view the book uncovers the story of tourism development in two small villages on a remote island of Eastern Indonesia, looking at conflicts of tourism development between a poor community, tourists, governments and brokers, with ramifications beyond the locality. >>> 28. THEATRES IN CROATIA The Croatian Centre of ITI just published an English language guide to all major theatres in Croatia, aiming to provide both theatre professionals and other curious visitors with a brief insight into Croatian theatre venues, their historic and architectural features, and the history, aesthetics and repertory profile of the companies. >>> |
