1.   INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE AND DIGITAL CULTURE

The Culturelink Network invites you to participate in the round table entitled Intercultural Dialogue and Digital Culture, to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 20-21 November 2008, marking the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (EYID) 2008. The event aims to discuss and share knowledge about the possibilities that digital culture provides for intercultural dialogue, and to identify examples of existing good practices that allow for participation of users in virtual cultural projects, thus enabling democratic participation of citizens in the building of virtual/digital culture.

4.   JOURNAL SLOVO CALLS FOR PAPERS

The academic journal Slovo, which publishes articles on Russian, Eurasian, and East European affairs, is accepting submissions for its Spring 2009 issue. Contributions, including research articles, book and film reviews, and review articles are welcome from all research students and academics. >>>

5.   ACLA 2009: GLOBAL LANGUAGES, LOCAL CULTURES

Paper proposals are invited to the American Comparative Literature Association's 2009 Annual Meeting, which will take place in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, on 26-29 March 2009. Submission deadline is 3 November 2008. >>>

6.   TAPPING LOCAL RESOURCES FOR SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION THROUGH ART

The Department of General Arts and Art Education of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is calling for panel proposals, theory papers/presentations and exhibitions/workshops to its conference on Tapping Local Resources for Sustainable Education Through Art, to be held in Kumasi, Ghana, on 31 July – 14 August, 2009. Submission deadline is 17 January 2009. >>>

7.   RESORTING TO THE COAST: TOURISM, HERITAGE AND CULTURES OF THE SEASIDE

The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change invites papers to its major international and multi-disciplinary conference on Resorting to the Coast: Tourism, Heritage and Cultures of the Seaside, to be held in Blackpool, UK, on 25-29 June 2009. Submission deadline is 2 February 2009. >>>

8.   TRADE SECRETS

The latest in the ongoing series of the Banff International Curatorial Institute (BICI) conferences, Trade Secrets, to be held in Banff, Canada, on 12 – 14 November 2008, will re-focus the collective discussion about the curatorial profession by exploring issues regarding the education of curators, the challenges facing collection-based curators, trends in curatorial research, and the writing of curatorial histories. Application deadline is 31 October 2008. >>>

9.   EUROPEAN ATELIER FOR YOUNG FESTIVAL MANAGERS 2009

From 26 April until 3 May 2009, the European Festivals Association (EFA) organises the second European Atelier for Young Festival Managers. The Atelier invites 45 emerging artistic directors from Europe, Asia, Africa, North / Central / South America and the Arabic world for a rigorous one-week training programme to Varna, Bulgaria. >>>

10.   URBAN GOVERNANCE: INNOVATION, INSECURITY AND THE POWER OF RELIGION

An International Essay Competition and Workshop on the topic of Urban Governance: Innovation, Insecurity and the Power of Religion is lauched by the Irmgard Coninx Foundation, the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and Humboldt-University Berlin. 11.   2009 NABA ARTS AND DESIGN MASTER PROGRAMMES

NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano is looking for talented young creatives for its 2009 postgraduate programmes in Digital Environment Design, Interior Design, Landscape Design, Multimedia Communication Design, Photography and Visual Design, Textile and New Materials Design, and Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies. 12.   UCSC DIGITAL ARTS AND NEW MEDIA MFA PROGRAMME

The two-year Digital Arts and New Media MFA programme at the University of California, Santa Cruz is now accepting applications for Fall 2009. Artists are encouraged to apply by 15 February 2009. >>>

13.   CEC ARTSLINK RESIDENCIES

CEC ArtsLink invites application to its five-week residencies in October-November 2009 and 2010 by performing artists and arts managers, as well as visual and media artists from Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, Central Asia, and the Caucasus by 9 and 10 November 2008.>>>

14.   LIMINAL SCREEN CO-PRODUCTION RESIDENCY

The Liminal Screen Co-production Residency, to be held at The Banff Centre between 26 February and 29 March 2009, provides a unique take on video-based residency programmes by engaging artists, developers, and researchers in a collective critical inquiry into video as a medium. >>>

15.   GULLIVER CONNECT

The Central European Foundation (Bratislava), KulturKontakt (Austria) and The Felix Meritis Foundation (Amsterdam) have launched a call for applications to Gulliver Connect, a mobility programme through work placements for young and up-coming artists, art managers and cultural operators in Europe. The deadline for applications is 15 December 2008. >>>

16.   GRADUATE PROGRAM IN CURATORIAL PRACTICE

Applications are now being accepted for the fall 2009 incoming class of a two-year master's degree programme at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, offering an expanded perspective on curating contemporary art and culture. Application deadline is 15 January 2009. >>>

17.   DIGITAL MEDIA POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME

Newcastle University recently launched a new post-graduate programme – the Masters of Research in Digital Media is a cutting edge programme, building on the interdisciplinary, practice-led creative research at the University's Culture Lab. >>>

21.   TEXTS AND TOURS: DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF LITERARY TOURISM
