2. INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION - PAIDEIA, POLITY, DEMOI All involved in the educational field are invited to attend the international conference on Intercultural Education: Paideia, Polity, Demoi, organized jointly by the International Association for Intercultural Education and the Hellenic Migration Policy Institute, in collaboration with the International Association for the Study of Cooperation in Education. The conference will be held in Athens, Greece, from 22-26 June 2009. The deadline for submissions is 20 February 2009. >>> 3. UNESCO U40 WORLD FORUM Reminder: The U40-World Forum, as the main part of the U40-Capacity Building Programme “Cultural Diversity 2030” (2008- 2010), initiated by the German Commission for UNESCO, is seeking up to 40 young specialists from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Northern America and the Arabic Region, with proven competence and interest in areas relevant to the Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. To apply, submit a short paper by 28 February 2009. >>> 4. THE PAST IS STILL TO CHANGE: PERFORMING HISTORY FROM 1945 TO THE PRESENT The Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Humanities at Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania, are announcing a call for papers for their upcoming international conference entitled The Past Is Still to Change: Performing History from 1945 to the Present, to be held in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 21-23 October 2009. The deadline for paper proposals is 31 March 2009. >>> 5. SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFRICAN CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT (ICACD 2009) The organizers of ICAD 2009, to be held in Accra, Ghana, on 14-17 June 2009, invite the submission of papers on selected topics concerning culture and development, governance and conflict resolution. The deadline for abstract submission is 24 April 2009. >>> 6. INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SOCIOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY (IJSA) The International Journal of Sociology and Anthropology (IJSA) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal that will be published monthly by Academic Journals. THEMATIC RESIDENCIES AT THE BANFF CENTRE The Banff Centre, Canada invites applications for a variety of self-directed residencies and thematic programmes on painting, literature and architecture in 2009. DIGITAL ARTS AND NEW MEDIA MFA PROGRAM The Digital Arts and New Media MFA Program at University of California (UC) Santa Cruz announces the initiation of new collaborative research projects in the context of the programme's ongoing research. DOCTORATE IN FINE ARTS AT THE FINNISH ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS Pioneering work in artistic research and postgraduate studies, the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts admits new students to postgraduate studies leading to a Doctorate in Fine Arts. The deadline for applications is 27 February 2009. >>> 10. ROBERT BOSCH STIFTUNG COURSE IN INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL MANAGEMENT The Robert Bosch Stiftung invites 14 fellows from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe to Germany for a thirteen-month course qualifying them in international cultural management. The deadline for applications is 15 March 2009. >>> 11. PhD PROGRAMMES IN VISUAL ART AND DESIGN (PhDArts) PhDArts, a PhD course collaboration between the Leiden University Academy of Creative and Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, invites applications by 30 April 2009. >>> 12. INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS RESIDENCIES/EXHIBITION AT HUNGARIAN MULTICULTURAL CENTER The Hungarian Multicultural Center (HMC) is currently accepting applications by visual artists, writers and musicians for the Budapest-International Artist/Writer Residencies to take place in Csopak, Hungary. EURO-AFRICAN CAMPUS ON CULTURAL COOPERATION The first edition of the Euro-African Campus on Cultural Cooperation will be held in Maputo, Mozambique, on 22-26 June 2009, organised by the Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa (OCPA) and Interarts. >>> 17. PACIFIC ARTS ALLIANCE (PaCaa) The PaCaa focuses on being a vehicle to provide information and create networks, aiming to provide better access to opportunities through helping to stimulate cross-cultural arts activity throughout the Pacific, and to connect and enhance the visibility of Pacific artists worldwide. >>> 18. RATIFICATION OF THE 2003 CONVENTION ON THE SAFEGUARDING OF THE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE IN BOTSWANA The Government of Botswana is in the process of ratifying the 2003 Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, having held consultative workshops around the country recently to sensitise key stake-holders on the Convention and encourage them to take part in the ratification and implementation processes. >>> |
