Hommage to René Rizzardo On Wednesday, 7 April 2010, René Rizzardo, one of the leading French and world experts on cultural policy, passed away. René Rizzardo devoted his entire career to questions concerning the decentralization of culture and the establishment of a cultural policy which promotes the principles of democracy. He was one of the first thinkers of cultural decentralization. For him decentralization was the primary challenge of development. >>> |

1. International Fund for Cultural Diversity Call The 2010 call for applications to the International Fund for Cultural Diversity is now open, to support projects and activities that aim to foster the emergence of a dynamic cultural sector in developing countries. It is intended to facilitate the introduction of cultural policies that protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions and strengthen the corresponding institutional infrastructure. >>> 2. Festival HAIP10: NEW NATURE The submission deadline for the 4th international Multimedia Festival HAIP 2010, to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 23–26 November 2010 under the title of New Nature, has been prolonged until 9 May 2010. >>> 3. Über Lebenskunst Project - Call for Future On 21 April 2010 the two-year program "Über Lebenskunst" will get underway with the Call for Future which marks the start of this project aiming to convincingly bring together culture and sustainability. Application deadline is 24 May 2010. >>> 4. NEU/NOW Festival ELIA announces the second edition of the NEU/NOW festival, to be held withinin the frame of the ELIA Biennial Conference in Nantes, France, presenting the most exciting and creative NEU artistic talent NOW emerging across Europe and beyond. The deadline for nominations is 1 June 2010. >>> 5. Cultural Cooperation Grants The UCLG Committee on Culture announces a call for proposals based on the Agenda 21 for culture, aimed at countries in Africa, Ibero-America and the Mediterranean, for cities and local governments which are direct or indirect members of United Cities and Local Governments - UCLG. The deadline for projects to be submitted is 22 June 2010. >>> 6. Ecole du Magasin - Session 20: Call for Application Based in Grenoble, L'Ecole du Magasin (Centre national d'art contemporain) is a ten-month international curatorial training programme that specializes in the coordination of artistic and exhibition-related projects. Applications are accepted between 1 April 2010 and 30 June 2010. >>> 7. Artists in Residence 2011 Programme of Kulturkontakt Austria In 2010 KulturKontakt Austria is carrying on with its established and successful artists-in-residence programme, offering two arts awards in cooperation with the Henkel CEE company, the only comprehensive art promotion prizes for the Central and Eastern European and Central Asian region. Transart Institute: MFA Creative Practice Transart Institute calls for applications to its MFA Creative Practice, an international masters program for working artists with summer residencies in Berlin, winter residencies in New York and one-on-one advisement during two academic years.
