1.   Participation in the 2010 International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures

Culturelink cooperates with six networks from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe in conducting the project entitled Networks as Impetus for the Rapprochement of Cultures, which has been included in UNESCO's List of Activities of the 2010 International Year for the Rapprochement of Culture. >>>

Call for Papers and Presentations

2.   Creative Regions in Central Europe: Challenges and Opportunities

The Regional Studies Association Research Network will hold its first research seminar, entitled Creative Regions in Central Europe: Challenges and Opportunities, in Wertheim, Germany on 20-21 October 2010, with a focus on the relationship between cultural heritage and the creative economy, and the development of creative economies in different geographical context in Europe, with a special focus on Central Europe. Abstract submission deadline is 15 July 2010. >>>

3.   UNFIXED – Photography, Postcolonial Perspectives and Contemporary Art

UNFIXED, a multiplatform project that explores the relation between photography, postcolonial perspectives and contemporary art, including an exhibition, symposium, workshop, artist commission-residency, and a resulting publication, calls for proposals for visual and/or textual presentations or papers. The deadline for proposals is 15 July 2010. >>>

4.   70 Years of Asian Studies

The Program Committee for the 2011 joint Association for Asian Studies (AAS) and International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) conference 70 Years of Asian Studies, to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, on 31 March - 3 April 2011, invites colleagues in Asian Studies to submit proposals for organized panels, roundtables, workshops and individual papers for sessions by 5 August 2010. >>>

5.   WE-ASC Education Culture Congress

The World Education - Arts, Sciences and Education Culture (WE-ASC) Congress invites participation in the event to be held in New Delhi, India on 12-15 January 2011. The abstracts submission and panel proposals deadline is 15 August 2010. >>>

6.   Critical Arts - Under Fire Call for Papers

Critical Arts, the Journal of South-North Cultural Studies, invites papers to its new Section, Under Fire, aiming to publish short theorised autobiographies, authoethnograohies, and dramatic narratives of what it is like living under fire, of the relevance of cultural studies in such circumstances, and how it could be deployed to challenge such conditions. >>>

7.   Journal of African Cinemas 2010 Call for Papers

The Journal of African Cinemas, a new peer-reviewed journal, is accepting submissions for Volume IV, scheduled for 2011, and the following issues. Submissions for theoretical essays, reviews, and comparative analyses regarding African cinema through its historical and contemporary legacies will be considered as and when they are received. >>>

8.   2010 All Africa Dance Conference and Festival on Peace

The 2010 All Africa Dance Conference and Festival on Peace, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya on 3-5 December 2010, will be compiled from proposals that are received by the Festival Committee by 15 July 2010. The selection is open to all artists, and all styles, choreographers, dance troupes and peace educators who register to present their artistic work. >>>

9.   Canon Foundation Research Fellowships

Aiming to contribute to international understanding, in particular between Europe and Japan, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Research Fellowships annually, awarded to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers in all fields for periods between three months and one year. Applications are welcome by 15 September 2010. >>>

10.   MA in Cultural Policy and Management

The University of Arts in Belgrade offers a one-year, full-time MA in Cultural Policy and Management, accredited by the University Lyon 2 and supported by other partner universities, professional organizations and guest experts from all over Europe. Application deadlines are for the June inscription period on 1 July 2010 and for the September inscription period on 27 September 2010. >>>

11.   Collaborative Research Residency

The Baltic Art Center (BAC) in Visby, Sweden, The Factory of Art and Design (FFKD) in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Hordaland Art Centre in Bergen, Norway jointly invite professionals within the field of visual art to apply to its new Collaborative Research Residency. Application deadline is 1 August 2010 for a one-month residency in the period between 1 October and 31 December 2010. >>>

12.   HEAD - Geneva MA Programmes in Design

HEAD, the Geneva University of Art and Design, Switzerland calls for applications to its two majors of the Master of Arts HES-SO in Design–Spaces and Communication, and Media Design. The deadline for applications is 20 August 2010. >>>

13.   MASTER OF RESEARCH IN ART AND DESIGN

In the academic year 2010-2011, the Sint Lucas Higher Institute of the Arts Antwerp, Belgium, will organize a one-year postgraduate research program, Master of Research in Art and Design, composed of both practical and theoretical seminars and masterclasses, focusing on research in the visual arts. Submission deadline is 27 August 2010. >>>

14.   MA Cultural Tourism at Leeds Metropolitan University

The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change, Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, has developed an important and innovative Master's qualification in Cultural Tourism to allow participants to take an informed position in contemporary theoretical debates and applied policy programmes focusing on tourism and its relationships with different concepts and expressions of culture. Application deadline is the end of August 2010. >>>

15.   PhDArts - PhD Programme in Visual Art and Design

PhDArts, an international, high-level doctoral programme in visual arts and design, carried out in collaboration between the Leiden University Academy of Creative and Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, the Netherlands, aims to stimulate and facilitate artist-researchers and to provide a suitable research environment. Application deadline is 1 October 2010 or 1 April 2011. >>>

16.   Barcelona University Cultural Management Programmes 2010-2011

Barcelona University offers its international post-graduate cultural management programme, the first in Spain, since 1989. Pre-inscriptions for the 2010-2011 courses take place between April and September 2010. >>>

17.   Arte-Polis 3 - Creative Collaboration and the Making of Place

Arte-Polis, the biennial gathering of international creative champions organized by the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development at Institute of Technology, Bandung (ITB), will be held at Bandung, Indonesia, on 22-24 July 2010, providing an opportunity to learn and share collaborative and creative experiences on place-making. >>>

18.   Journeys of Expression VIII

Journeys of Expression VIII, with the theme of Celebrating Through Times of Crisis: Prospects and Potentials for Tourism, Festivals and Cultural Events, which was originally planned for April 2010 and had to be postponed due to the light interruptions at the time, will now be held in Copenhagen, Denmark on 11 -12 September 2010. >>>

19.   Branding and Marketing Strategies: New Tools in the Global Competitiveness of Territories

On the occasion of the Shanghai Expo 2010 "Better City, Better Life", and as part of its Programme Objective 2030, the International Urban Development Association (INTA) will organize a roundtable, to be held in Shanghai, Pudong, China, on 16-18 September 2010, focusing on the most promising strategies of positioning territories in term of attractiveness and territorial marketing. >>>

20.   Can I Google It? - 18th Annual ENCATC Conference

Can I Google It? is ENCATC's 18th Annual Conference, to take place in Brussels, Belgium, from 6-8 October 2010, will discuss how universities can perform their social and economic function without sacrificing their traditional independence and the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. >>>

21.   Sustainable Tourism Fair

24.   3331 Arts Chiyoda

As part of its range of activities, the newly established Tokyo-based arts centre 3331 Arts Chiyoda launched an artist in residence programme, open to artists, curators and creative practitioners internationally. >>>

Mike Flaming of Durham University offers an historical and theoretical overview of arts education and its place in the English curriculum, examining the development of arts education and its relationship to the concept of creativity. >>>

26.   The Rhetorics of Creativity: A Literature Review

The publication explores whether creativity is an internal cognitive function or an external cultural phenomenon; whether it is a ubiquitous human activity or a special faculty; whether it is inevitably pro-social or can also be dissident or even anti-social; and what the implications are for a creative model of teaching and learning. >>>

27.   Yearbook 2009, Film, television and video in Europe Vol. 2: Trends in European Television

The three-volume European Audiovisual Observatory Yearbook offers a comprehensive overview of the audiovisual sector in the Observatory’s 36 member states. Volume 2 is concerned with Trends in European Television. >>>

28.   Active Ageing of Migrant Elders: Good Practice in Europe

The Ministry for Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia published a booklet and report of its project Active Ageing of Migrant Elders across Europe (AAMEE), promoted by the European Commission. >>>

29.   Policies and Practices for Teaching Sociocultural Diversity

The book is designed to provide a basis to help ensure that the needs of future teachers in regard to specific training on democratic culture and social cohesion are met, putting forward diversity competences that were identified by a team of European specialists in teacher training. >>>
