Cultural Identity Politics in the (Post-) Transitional Societies

Edited by Aldo Milohnic and Nada Svob-Djokic, and just published in the Culturelink Joint Publication Series, this book is a collection of papers presented at the conference Questioning Transitional Dynamics in Re-defining Cultural Identities in Southeastern Europe, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 15-16 January 2011. It is the result of a research project of the same title, supported by ASO Ljubljana on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research, and by the East-East: Partnership beyond Borders Programme of the Open Society Foundations. The project was implemented in cooperation between the Peace Institute, Ljubljana; the Institute for International Relations, Zagreb, Culturelink Network's focal point; the University of Arts, Belgrade; and the Department of Social and Economic History at the University of Vienna.

In its 6th international research conference, to be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom, on 6-9 July 2012, the Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change seeks to explore the relationships between tourism, tourists and all forms/genres and sub-genres of music including: popular, classical, folk, dance, rock, jazz and hip-hop, across all cultures and continents. 3.   EUROPEAN RESEARCH AND MOBILITY GRANTS FOR EUROPEAN STUDIES

The European Academy of Yuste Foundation announces its European Research and Mobility Grants for European Studies 'Charles V European Award - Javier Solana Madariaga' and its VI Summer Doctoral Seminar in Contemporary European Multidisciplinary Studies, to take place in Extremadura, Spain, in the second semester of 2011. Candidates should submit their applications by 25 June 2011. >>>

4.   STRENGHTENING THE GOVERNANCE OF CULTURE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

UNESCO launches an international call for applications for technical assistance missions: Strengthening the Governance of Culture in Developing Countries. The missions will support the beneficiary countries in their effort to establish legal, regulatory, and/or institutional frameworks and/or introduce policies that address the role of culture in social and economic development, particularly thorough the cultural industries. The deadline for submission of applications is 30 June 2011. >>>

5.   EU-ACP SUPPORT PROGRAMME APPLICATIONS

The Secretariat of the ACP Group of States (Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific) invites proposals for the EU-ACP Support Programme, aiming to enhance creation and production of cultural goods and services in the ACP States in an interregional context. Application deadline is 30 June 2011. >>>

6.   MASTER PROGRAMME IN CULTURAL POLICY AND MANAGEMENT

The University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, in cooperation with the University Lyon 2, France is organizing a joint MA programme in Cultural Policy and Management on Interculturalism and Mediation in the Balkans, which has been named UNESCO Chair in 2004 for its excellence in the promotion of intercultural cooperation and mediating capacities of culture. Interested candidates are invited to apply by 13-15 June 2011 and 19-20 September 2011 respectively. >>>

7.   NIDA ART COLONY - VILNIUS ACADEMY OF ARTS

The Nida Art Colony, a new subdivision of the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania, opened in March 2011, calls for applications to its Artist-in-Residence Programme and offers spaces for events at its facilities. Interested artists are invited to apply by 15 June 2011. >>>

The St. Lucas Antwerp University College of Art and Design, Belgium, organizes a one-year postgraduate Master of Research in Art and Design programme in the academic year 2011-2012, aiming to both transmit and stimulate research in the field of the visual arts.
