1.   CREATIVE ENCOUNTERS 2011: ASIA-EUROPE CULTURAL PARTNERSHIPS

Creative Encounters 2011 is the second edition of the Asia-Europe Cultural Partnership Initiatives (AECPI), first launched in 2009 to support capacity-building and enable bi-regional collaboration between individuals and organizations working in the fields of film, new media arts and performing arts. Artists, cultural workers, arts organizations and arts networks of Asia and Europe are invited to submit proposals for multilateral artistic projects before 15 July 2011. >>>

2.   CANON FOUNDATION IN EUROPE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

The Canon Foundation in Europe offers 15 Research Fellowships annually to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers in all fields of research, with the aim of contributing to international understanding, in particular between Europe and Japan. Application deadline is 15 September 2011. >>>

3.   CHIYODA ART FESTIVAL 2011

In addition to its exhibition, the Chiyoda Art Festival 2011, planned for March and postponed and rescheduled to take place on 3-19 September 2011 in Tokyo, Japan, will include Stage and Market events, to further extend the range of artistic expression brought together in this art festival. >>>

Educational Programmes and Fellowships

4.   TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR VISUAL ARTISTS AND CURATORS

The Programa Independente da Escola São Paulo - PIESP, to take place from August 2011 - June 2012, is a training programme for visual artists and curators who wish to develop and deepen their research and practice. Application deadline is 25 July 2011. >>>

5.   MASTER OF ARTS PROGRAMME IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND CULTURAL DIPLOMACY

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) in cooperation with the Dubrovnik International University (DIU) is launching a graduate Master of Arts programme in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy, to be held in Berlin and Dubrovnik starting in September 2011. Deadline for applications is 10 August 2011. >>>

6.   DOCTORAL PROGRAMME IN VISUAL ARTS 2011-2014

The University of Évora, Portugal is organizing a Ph.D. Programme in Visual Arts, taught in Portuguese and English, which aims to create a specialized academic space dedicated to thought, theory and creation in art and design, and their relationship with the use of new technologies and the world of science. Application deadline is 19 August 2011. >>>

7.   POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME ON CULTURAL HERITAGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

The Institute for Social and European Studies (ISES) and the Corvinus University of Budapest announced the establishment of a new UNESCO Chair in Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainability in Koszeg, Hungary. Application deadline is 31 August 2011. >>>

8.   VACANCY: PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN WEB- AND INTERACTION DESIGN

The Department of Design at the Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB) offers a position as Professor / Associate Professor in web- and interaction design with a 6-year tenure, starting on 1 January 2012. Application deadline is 5 September 2011. >>>

9.   TRANSMEDIA POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME IN ARTS, MEDIA AND DESIGN

The Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design offers a two-year, full-time course in arts, media and design, focused on research as an integrated mix of art practice and critical thought, leading to a master's degree in transmedia studies. Application deadline is 30 September 2011. >>>

10.   DOCTORAL PROGRAMME IN VISUAL ART AND DESIGN: RESEARCH IN AND THROUGH ARTISTIC PRACTICE

PhDArts, a collaboration between the Leiden University Academy of Creative and Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, offers an international doctoral programme in visual art and design, aiming to stimulate and facilitate artist-researchers and to provide a suitable research environment. Application deadlines are 1 October 2011 and 1 April 2012. >>>

11.   ART AS CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: A FORUM FOR YOUNG LEADERS

This international and interdisciplinary gathering of young influential individuals from across the world, interested in exploring the potential for art to serve as a catalyst for cultural diplomacy at local, national and international levels, will be held in London, UK, on 22–29 August 2011, aiming to offer a range of perspectives on current and conceptual issues in the development of cultural policy and arts administration within an international context. >>>

12.   ICD CONFERENCE ON THE LANGUAGE OF ART AND MUSIC

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD), Berlin is currently accepting applications for its international conference The Language of Art and Music, to be held in London, UK on 25–29 August 2011, under the title A Three Piece Puzzle: The Relationship between Culture, International Relations and Globalization. >>>

13.   COLLABORATING TO COMPETE CONFERENCE

Reminder: The Collaborating to Compete Conference, organized by the Museums Galleries Scotland, will be held in Edinburgh, UK, on 16 September 2011, aiming to demonstrate how museums and galleries can create opportunities for significant and dynamic change. >>>

14.   SIETAR EUROPA CONGRESS - INTERCULTURALISM AHEAD: TRANSITION TO A VIRTUAL WORLD?

The 18th Annual SIETAR Europa Congress 2011, to be held in Krakow, Poland, on 21-25 September 2011, under the title of Interculturalism Ahead: Transition to a Virtual World?, invites participants to engage with new trends in the intercultural domain and acquire new skills to focus on current developments in the world that affect our everyday contact with virtual realities. >>>

15.   THE BEST IN HERITAGE MASTER CLASS AND CONFERENCE

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the Best in Heritage conference, to take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on 22-24 September 2011, will include New Projects presentations of six newly opened museums, as well as Mnemosophia - a post-conference Best in Heritage Master Class intended for PhD students from South-East Europe. >>>

16.   STUDY ON AGING ARTISTS IN NEW YORK CITY AND LOS ANGELES

A new study entitled Still Kicking - Aging Performing Artists in New York City and Los Angeles Metro Areas: Information on Artists IV conducted by the Research Centre for the Arts and Culture (RCAC) at Teachers College Columbia University is the first assessment of aging performing artists in the New York and Los Angeles metro area. >>>

17.   BANGKOK DESIGNATED WORLD BOOK CAPITAL 2013

Bangkok has been designated World Book Capital 2013, selected by a committee of representatives from the three main branches of the publishing world and UNESCO, which met at the Organization's Paris Headquarters on 27 June 2011. >>>

18.   LITERATURE IN FLUX PROJECT

Funded by the European Union, Literature in Flux is a project organized to mark the 5th anniversary of HALMA - the European Network of Literary Centres, with the aim of putting stories and words in motion, connecting cultural landscapes and initiating a common dialogue across borders. >>>

19.   CULTURE GLOBAL PROJECT - DEVELOPING AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT AND SHARING KNOWLEDGE

Kettle Partnership, a UK-based research organisation, invites participation in the Culture Global Project, which aims to map and share the knowledge and practices that exist in the global cultural sector, providing practical information and guidance for cultural organisations. >>>

23.   EUROPEAN UNION BETWEEN DEFENSE OF THE TREATIES AND ELECTORAL CONSENSUS

The publication is a result of the European Mobility Enabling to Reduce the Ground of Exclusion (E.M.E.R.G.E.) project, aiming to activate the European citizenship on the themes of poverty and social exclusion (European Year 2010) through an innovative (blended mentoring) methodology of exchange with NGOs active in countries that recently joined the EU. >>>

24.   AN INSIGHT INTO SELECTED FILM FUNDING SYSTEMS

26.   WHOLE SCHOOL CHANGE: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE) published the second edition of its literature review, which focuses on the history, theory and practice of school change. The publication questions assumptions about the purpose of change, and stimulates reflection about how we evaluate change and demonstrate its permanence. >>>

27.   DIGITAL DESIGN MANUAL

As the influence of digital technology keeps increasing, the Digital Design Manual introduces different digital tools used in the design phase and planning process, and includes tutorials based on everyday practice, which will be helpful in architectural design and planning stages. >>>
