The Culture Strand of the Creative Europe Programme 2014-2020 The Institute for International Relations (IMO), headquarter of the Culturelink Network, was commissioned by the European Parliament Culture and Education (CULT) Committee to provide expert commentary and analysis on the nature and implications of the proposed Culture Strand of the Creative Europe Programme 2014-2020 - its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The document takes the form of a critical overview of the proposed Creative Europe Programme (Section 1), a deeper analysis of the implications of the proposal for various stakeholders (Section 2), reflections on the programme (Section 3), and a series of recommendations for consideration and action (Section 4). The work was carried out during June and July 2012. >>> Nomination of Biserka Cvjeticanin to the Scientific Council of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe The Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs. Irina Bokova, recently approved the nomination of Biserka Cvjeticanin, Culturelink Network/IMO, as a new member to the Scientific Council of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe. The President of the Scientific Council of IMO, Kresimir Jurlin greeted this news with the words: Sincerest congratulations on the nomination to the Scientific Council of the great UNESCO in the name of the Scientific Council of the humble IMO! |

1. Art and Geography: Aesthetics and Practices of Spatial Knowledges The conference Art and Geography: Aesthetics and Practices of Spatial Knowledges, to be held in Lyon, France, on 11-13 February 2013 will take place in connection with a research project funded by the French National Research Agency, Médiagéo, aiming to explore the contemporary contours of what is geographical and to question the boundaries between cultural activities, in this case, art and geography. Deadline for submissions is 30 October 2012. >>> 2. Transcultural Perspectives on the Future 2013 FUTUREtakes, a Transcultural Futurist Magazine, invites members of the Culturelink community to serve as panelists in the fourth annual Transcultural Roundtable, also known as Transcultural Perspectives on the Future 2013, scheduled to take place in Chicago, USA, on 19-21 July 2013. The roundtable will be a special session of World Future 2013, an annual conference sponsored by the World Future Society. >>> 3. Sound Media, Sound Cultures The aim of the Media International Australia (MIA) theme issue no.148, to be published in August 2013, is to explore issues related to the specific configurations of sound in media and culture. These sites might include oral literature, e-books and associated reading/listening devices, print cultures, popular music, film and cinema, radio, television, telephony and digital media. Digital Arts and New Media MFA Programme The Digital Arts and New Media MFA programme at the University of California, Santa Cruz is accepting applications for Fall 2013 now through 7 January 2013. The two-year DANM MFA programme brings together faculty and students from across the academic spectrum to pursue interdisciplinary artistic and scholarly research. >>> 8. Master of Arts in Architecture The three-semester post-professional MAA degree at Florida International University, Miami, enables students to pursue advanced studies in theory, applied research and special topics in design practice. European Campus of Local and Regional Authorities for Culture Les Rencontres, the Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture, is organizing the first edition of the European Campus of Local and Regional Authorities for Culture, to be held in Paris, France, on 21 - 24 November 2012. The Campus strives to give prominence to original points of view, new perspectives and strategies for action which can stimulate the European integration process. >>> 10. 2012 International Symposium on Culture and Sustainable Development Coordinated by the French and the Quebec ministries of culture, the international symposium on Culture and Sustainable Development will be held in Paris, France, on 22-23 November 201, with the objective to share ideas from around the world and identify possible actions to promote better integration of culture into sustainable development initiatives. >>> 11. Making Diversity Work for Cities Reminder: This Irish EU Presidency Event, to take place in Durban, Ireland, on 6-8 February 2013, will explore the results and achievements of the Intercultural Cities initiative and the cities involved in it, and examine implications for adopting a diversity-based approach in national and international integration policy and practice. >>> |

Journal of Cultural Management and Policy ENCATC, the European Network on Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Education, has published Volume 2, Issue 1 of its online Journal of Cultural Management and Policy.
