1. Collecting Geographies - Global Programming and Museums of Modern Art This international conference, to be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 12-14 March 2014, is organized by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, within the framework of the Stedelijk's long-term Global Collaborations project, in cooperation with ASCA/ACGS University of Amsterdam; the Moderna Museet, Stockholm; the Folkwang Museum, Essen; and the Tropen Museum, Amsterdam. 2. European Idea Competition: Innovative Ideas for Cultural and Creative Sectors in Europe The @diversity Idea Competition, initiated and funded by the European Union, is seeking fresh and innovative ideas for the European cultural industry, making use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to create, make accessible, spread and/or finance cultural products. Every citizen of the European Union no matter how old or of which background can apply before 19 August 2013. >>> 3. Europa Nostra Awards 2014 Reminder: Each year, Europa Nostra and the European Union reward the best of cultural heritage achievements. Through the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, Europa Nostra celebrates excellence and dedication by architects, craftsmen, volunteers, schools, local communities, heritage owners and media. 4. Artist-in-Residence Programs The Banff Centre's Artist-in-Residence programmes provides a rich, well-supported environment for the professional development of artists in digital film and media, audio, research, and photography. Residencies are ideal for individuals and teams who want time and space to create new works, research innovative ideas, and experiment with different techniques and modes of production. The deadlines for application are 6 September and 25 October 2013 respectively. >>> 5. Canon Foundation in Europe - Research Fellowships in Japan Each year, to contribute to the international understanding between Europe and Japan, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Research Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers. The deadline for applications is 15 September 2013. >>> 6. 2014 Skaftfell Residency Programme The Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art runs a residency programme in Seydisfjordur, aiming to foster a community made up of artists and the general public in the rural setting of East Iceland. The programme is open for applications for a residency in 2014 with deadline on 1 September 2013. >>> 7. WZB-ISSC Global Fellowship Programme The International Social Science Council (ISSC) in cooperation with the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) announces the first call for applications for a Global Fellowship. Talented early career social scientists residing and working in a developing country are encouraged to apply to conduct research for up to six months at the WZB in Berlin. Deadline for applications is 15 September 2013. >>> 8. PhD Programme in Visual Art and Design PhDArts offers an international, high-level doctorate in art and design at the Leiden University and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, The Netherlands. Culture Action Europe Public Conference The Culture Action Europe announces an innovative two-day international conference about the vital role of individual and social cultural capacities in building a way out of the deadlock that threatens Europe, its people and democracy, under the motto "It's not just a crisis, it is a transition!" The conference will take place in Rome, Italy, on 4-5 October 2013. >>> 10. 2nd ENCATC Academy on Cultural Relations and Diplomacy The 2nd ENCATC Academy on Cultural Relations and Diplomacy, to be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 21-22 November 2013, will focus on the Middle East, Northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. In order to better understand the different relationships among stakeholders in this area and the sometimes delicate situations, renowned experts from the field were invited by ENCATC to share their knowledge and real-life experiences. Registration deadline: 4 November 2013. >>> 11. European Campus of Local and Regional Authorities for Culture 2013 The Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture Les Rencontres is organizing the second edition of the European Campus of Local and Regional Authorities for Culture, to be held in Tampere, Finland, from 18 to 22 September 2013. 13. Bread and Salt. Stories of Art and Migration The book Bread and Salt explores migration, identity and justice through the stories of 18 artists who have settled in Europe from other parts of the world. It draws on their experiences to make actual and particular what is too often considered only through simplifying generalisations. And it asks how far nationalistic ideas of cultural identity are consistent with Europe's stated commitment to equal rights. >>> 14. Democratiser la culture! Une histoire comparée des politiques culturelles The contributions in this volume, mainly centred on the second half of the 20th century, are contemplating the various forms taken by the theme of democratization of culture in some European countries and the United States of America. >>> 15. Artistes de laboratoire The book Artists in Lab. Research and Creation in the Digital Era concerns the way in which the artistic creation and the technological research - areas that were historically separated - are now so entangled that any innovation within the one interests and bends the development of the other one. >>> |
