1.   CALL FOR IDEAS: ECAPITAL CULTURE - ADRIATIC START-UP SCHOOL 2016

The Ecapital Culture - Adriatic Start Up School is intended for young people from the Countries of the Adriatic-Ionian Macro Region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia), motivated to give birth to a business aimed at enhancing the cultural heritage of the area. The 2016 call for ideas is open from 15 July to 15 September 2016. >>>

2.   CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR ICAS 10

The International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS), the largest international gathering in the field of Asian Studies, attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. ICAS 10 will be held on 20 - 23 July 2017 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The submission deadline for proposals is 10 October 2016. >>>

3.   EJCCM SPECIAL ISSUE ON STRATEGIC CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE AND INTENTIONAL ACTION

As new perspectives and issues on cultural intelligence are emerging due to the current wave of refugees and the widening gap between those who have an education that fits labour market requirements and others who do not, the European Journal of Cross-Cultural Competence and Management (EJCCM) is planning to publish a special issue on Strategic Cultural Intelligence and Intentional Action. The deadline for submissions is 1 November 2016. >>>

4.   CALL FOR ECF's IDEA CAMP 2017

ECF's third Idea Camp will focus on the theme of Moving Communities. Based on the values of sharing, inclusion and openness, the Idea Camp offers participants a unique opportunity to meet peers from diverse backgrounds and with different visions. ECF and Platoniq will host the Idea Camp in Spain on 1 - 3 March 2017. The deadline for applications is 20 September 2016. >>>

5.   EUROPEAN UNION PRIZE FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE AND EUROPA NOSTRA AWARDS 2017

The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage and Europa Nostra Awards recognise outstanding heritage achievements in Europe by architects, heritage experts or craftsmen, teachers, volunteers or even schools. The submission deadline is 1 October 2016. >>>

6.   BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL JAZZ COMPETITION AND FESTIVAL

jmEvents announces its open call for artists for the 2017 Bucharest International Jazz Competition and Festival for instrumentalists and vocalists. The competition will take place in Bucharest, Romania, on 13 - 20 May 2017. The deadline for submissions is 10 February 2017. >>>

7.   PhD PROGRAMME IN VISUAL ART AND DESIGN - RESEARCH IN AND THROUGH ARTISTIC PRACTICE

PhDArts offers an international, high-level doctorate in art and design at Leiden University and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, The Netherlands. The PhDArts research trajectory consists of two elements: individual research and participation in the doctoral study programme. The application deadline is 1 October 2016. >>>

8.   21st FIA CONGRESS: ACTING FOR DIVERSITY

The 21st International Federation of Actors (FIA) Congress will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on 22 - 25 September 2016. This weeklong meeting will tackle the most important international arts and culture issues, ranging from working conditions to mobility, health and safety to digitalisation. The motto will be Acting for Diversity. >>>

9.   LA RENCONTRE DE SAN SEBASTIAN

LIKE - European Cities and Regions for Culture are inviting to San Sebastian, ECoC 2016, for the Meeting of the Year and the General Assembly of LIKE under the title La Rencontre de San Sebastian / Co-Construction of Culture in Europe (The Link between Citizens, Territories and Creativity), which will take place on 10 - 13 October 2016. 10.   LEADERSHIP NOUVEAU 2016: LEADERSHIP IN ARTS MANAGEMENT

Leadership Nouveau is a linked website-conference programme which examines the challenges of arts management in the 21st century. The Conference will take place at the Paley Center for Media, New York, USA on 7 November 2016, aiming to explore the question of consumption experience in the arts and culture. >>>

11.   NEMO's ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON MONEY MATTERS: THE ECONOMIC VALUE OF MUSEUMS

NEMO's 24th Annual Conference Money Matters: The Economic Value of Museums will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany from 10 - 12 November 2016. During the three days museums and decision makers from all over Europe are invited to discuss the internal and external economic dimensions of museums. Registration is open. >>>

12.   INTA40 WORLD CONGRESS: LIVING, BUILDING, FUNDING THE CITY POST-HABITAT III

The International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM) released the mapping Creation and Displacement: Developing New Narratives Around Migration, presenting some of the artistic projects taking place in Europe and internationally with a focus on support, solidarity and engagement with refugees and migrants. >>>

14.   HUMAN RIGHTS IN CULTURALLY DIVERSE SOCIETIES

This updated publication of the Council of Europe contains the Committee of Ministers' guidelines to member States on the protection and promotion of human rights in culturally diverse societies as well as the Compilation of Council of Europe standards relating to the principles of freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and links to other human rights upon which the Guidelines are inspired. >>>

15.   CELEBRATING CANADIAN CREATIVITY

In his new book, entitled Celebrating Canadian Creativity, D.
