1.   THE THRILL OF THE DARK: HERITAGES OF FEAR, FASCINATION AND FANTASY

2.   LANGUAGE, IDENTITY AND EDUCATION IN MULTILINGUAL CONTEXTS (LIEMC19)

The Centre for Research in Language Learning and Use (CReLLU), University of York, is organising the international conference on Language, Identity and Education in Multilingual Contexts, to be held at the University of York, UK from 14 to 16 February 2019. 3.   TANDEM EUROPE PROGRAMME

An initiative developed by the European Cultural Foundation, Tandem Europe is a cross-border collaboration programme that aims at social change through cultural activities. Initiatives, organisations or institutions can submit their expression of interest for this tailor-made programme for people who work on creative solutions that make social innovation possible throughout the EU. Submission deadline is 15 November 2018. >>>

4.   INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL: CENTER STAGE KOREA 2019

Initiated and organised by the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS), Center Stage Korea introduces Korea's diverse performances to audiences around the world, thus strengthening cultural enrichment, mutual understanding and exchange in the fields of arts. International presenters (in charge of a festival, venue or network) seeking to organise a programme featuring Korean artists/groups are welcome to apply. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2018. >>>

5.   EUROPEAN MEDIA ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE EXCHANGE 2019

The new European Media Art Platform offers residencies for media artists in the fields of digital media including Internet and computer-based artists, filmmakers and those working in media-based performance, sound or video as well as robotics or bio-art. The deadline for applications is 3 December 2018. >>>

6.   CALL FOR CAPACITIY-BUILDING SERVICES AND PEER-LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR UPCOMING EUROPEAN CAPITALS OF CULTURE

A call for tender (EAC22/2018) has been published by the European Commission with the objective to select an entity or a consortium of entities that will organise capacity-building actions for those cities selected to be the European Capital of Culture in the coming years. The deadline for applications is 16 January 2019. >>>

7.   CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO MASA 2020

The Market for African Performing Arts is calling for applications in the categories of music, dance, storytelling, stand-up comedy and theatre for groups that have not been named in the official selection to perform at the festival in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from 7 to 14 March 2020. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2019. >>>

8.   EUROPEAN DIPLOMA IN CULTURAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT 2019/2020

The European Diploma in Cultural Project Management, organised by the Association Marcel Hichter from Brussels, Belgium, is a pan-European training and learning experience fostering cultural diversity and interregional exchanges as a way of giving culture a stronger place in Europe and abroad. The 29th edition of this European Diploma is organised in collaboration with Northern Ireland and Iceland. Applications deadline is 15 January 2019. >>>

9.   DAS THEATRE AND DAS CHOREOGRAPHY MASTER'S PROGRAMMES

DAS Graduate School at Amsterdam University of the Arts, the Netherlands has launched a call for applications for DAS Theatre and DAS Choreography Master's Programmes 2019-2021. The application deadline is 20 November 2018. >>>

10.   FAIR OF EUROPEAN INNOVATORS IN CULTURAL HERITAGE

Organised by the European Commission as a key event of 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Fair of European Innovators in Cultural Heritage will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 15 - 16 November 2018, presenting an occasion to discover how the EU is promoting research and innovation in cultural heritage, fostering creativity and novel solutions across countries and facilitating intercultural dialogue. 11.   ISPA CONGRESS ON TRANSITIONS: TODAY'S FUTURE FOR THE ARTS

The 2019 edition of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) Congress, to be held in New York, USA, from 8 to 10 January, examines the contexts of contemporary performing arts, exploring also what may be learnt from other sectors. As we adjust for ever-changing political environments, infrastructure renewal and development, technological change and leadership development, how do we address challenges and opportunities of which we may not even be aware? 14.   MOBILITY OF ARTISTS AND CULTURE PROFESSIONALS: TOWARDS A EUROPEAN POLICY FRAMEWORK

KEA's new research report, completed for the European Parliament, analyzes artists' and culture professionals' mobility at the EU level, including current policy developments, types and trends, and provides recommendations for a EU-wide mobility framework which entails both a dedicated mobility scheme and an improved regulatory environment that would facilitate mobility in Europe. >>>

15.   CRITICAL ARTS SPECIAL ISSUE: PARTICIPATION, ART AND DIGITAL CULTURE

Critical Arts, the Journal of South-North Cultural and Media Studies, recently published its Special Issue on Participation, Art and Digital Culture, a theme issue including articles that explore art practices which specifically engage with participation, interaction, technology and digital media, and discussing how technology, media and networks open up new avenues to develop practices that examine space and locality, community and communication, interaction and intimacy, proximity and distance, creation and co-creation. >>>
