Creative Regions Summer School
Developed from the collaboration between the School of Arts at the University of Kent, the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies at the University of Birmingham and the Cardiff School of Management at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, the Creative Regions Summer School 2011 will take place on 3-8 July 2011, hosted by the School of Arts at the University of Kent in Canterbury. This week of intense learning for postgraduate students, practitioners and policy makers interested in engaging with the current debates and research surrounding the role of the creative economy in local and regional development, will be based on a mix of lectures, presentations, workshops and site visits. These will be delivered by both academics and practitioners. The academic team will be led by Dr Roberta Comunian, Dr Caroline Chapain, Dr Nick Clifton, with the contribution of visiting scholars. They will be complemented by contributions from representatives of local, regional and national public and private organisations in order to discuss the practical and policy challenges involved in supporting the creative economy at the local and regional levels.
Places are limited to 20 participants to facilitate interaction and learning. A preliminary programme will be available in spring 2011.
