International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21
Calls for Entries
The objective of the International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21 is to recognise leading cities and individuals that have distinguished themselves through their contribution to culture as a key driver for sustainable development. The Award has two categories: the City / Local or Regional Government Award, which recognises a city, local or regional government whose cultural policy has contributed significantly to linking the values of culture (heritage, diversity, creativity and transmission of knowledge) with democratic governance, citizen participation and sustainable development, and the Individual Award, which recognises an internationally renowned individual who has made a fundamental contribution to the relationship between culture and sustainable development.
The project presented by the winning city will receive the amount of 50,000 Euro, which will be used for its international promotion (the publication of a book, participation in forums, international visibility) and to strengthen the local implementation of the Agenda 21 for Culture.
This Award is unique in promoting culture and creativity as levers for sustainable cities. Based on experience from previous editions of the Award, the Jury will nominate a large number of applications as good practices.
The deadline for the submission of applications is 16 March 2018. All candidacies by cities, local or regional governments should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
