Call for Capacity-building Services and Peer-learning Activities for Upcoming European Capitals of Culture
The European Commission launched a call for capacity building services and peer-learning activities for upcoming European Capitals of Culture. This call for tender (EAC22/2018) has been published with the objective to select an entity or a consortium of entities that will organise capacity-building actions for those cities selected to be the European Capital of Culture in the coming years. Lack of skills and capacity needed to organise an event of the scale and scope of a European Capital of Culture - which is a very unique event - is too often mentioned in the ex post evaluations carried out on behalf of the Commission since 2008. This is therefore seen as a key element leading to difficulties in preparing and implementing a European Capital of Culture. Against this backdrop, the need for the Commission to support capacity-building and peer-learning activities for and between ECOCs has become evident. Such activities should be seen as a way to contribute to the success of this very popular and highly visible EU action and safeguard its credibility and legacy.
The deadline for applications is 16 January 2019.
